Re: When is the next software update planned?

Updated in Bournemouth couple of days ago. The best benefit is that the HDD now powers down after 2-3 mins. Peace at last.

I believe it does although I have never actually done it.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

I have one problem since this update and that is if I switch my box off at night in the morning when I switch it back on there is no sound just picture. If I switch to external speakers connected to the audio out phonos on the V+ then the sound is OK but via HDMI there is nothing. Later on during the day the sound returns and is then OK until the next switch off. TV sound on analogue/digital freeview are all fine. My TV is a Panasonic TH-42 PX600 and this has only happened since the update. Anyone else had anything similar???

1) Go into the 'Locked Channels' section of the 'Settings' Menu. You will need the PIN for this bit so the kiddies shouldn't be able to do it.
2) Move down to the movie channels and lock the channel and then unlock it again.
3) Do this for each of the required channels.
You should now be able to switch between the movie channels without a PIN or red button as if they were any other channel. This is how the system should work for us adults that dont have kiddies around.

The PIN protection system seems to work by having a hidden channel lock.
These hidden locks are cleared after the watershed and set again in the early morning reset(6-7am?).This trick will work until then or a STB reset of any sort.

You can 'unprotect' the channels after 7am and unless a manual STB reset/reboot or a VM generated reset occurs there should be no problems for the rest of the day.
Thanks, but I already knew this workaround, but it's still annoying having to do this in the first place.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find an answer.

How do you know when a software update has taken place?

Cheers

Updates usually take place around 5am and Your V+ box will be on Channel 999 if there has been an update.

I've had 2 updates since i had the V+ box and both times my box was on Ch 999 as its not a channel i normally leave it on.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

As I said in the other thread, attaching a box you have bought to the Virgin Cable network is against Terms and Conditions.

Re: When is the next software update planned?

....Press Home button > 8 Settings > 6 Technical Stuff > Press the red button (page down) 3 times and you get to the page where the software version is.
