See thats the thing.
They are more concerned about how much it will cost, than how much it will make.
They could be the market leader in that, but they cant afford it.
This is what years and years of spending on the wrong things has done.
What would be the criteria for Virgin Media to go into Debt Security, or whatever they did, like ntl: did years and years ago, to restructure?

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Thing is they can do all this but they still wont update the existing cable network and the boxes and the such, they need the basic services to be fully up to scratch first rather than a massive service everywhere that doesnt work!

Re: When is the next software update planned?
I also heard that the next update is gonna include an option to Playlist certain On Demand programs... (I heard it is just for Music, but I cant see why it cant be implemented for Catch Up TV, and even Movies.)

I've not seen this yet on the new software. Some thing included in the new software for V box:
1. It will bring the end of the Sky Movies pin-removal trick.
2. information screen is larger!
3. the 3-digit numbers on the led have moved right (like in the cr2 days)
4. there is a confirmation everytime you turn on or off subtitles through the miniguide.
5. some numbers (PL01, AP53...) show up on the LED for the Pace boxes when restarted.
6. Only the VM logo is shown when rebooted (No 'just loading...please wait').
Things still needing a look at:
1. fix the no information bug for VM recorded programmes on On Demand (OD)
2. more features for OD (jump, faster forward options, and display a clock on the LED when OD is working).
3. please add more...

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Yea. Scene select is one we need also. Like 5 Mins, or something. (Maybe even an option is Settings to set how many minutes.)
If we see a clock when OD, can we not have a live clock when the box is in Standby also?
Back to 3/5/7 day EPG I want too. I watched Rovers just starting at 7:30pm, and I could only view upto 1am.
One thing they could also do (V+ NOW) is have the recording start AFTER the EPG switches.
Surely that might speed the channel hopping up.

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Can we have the option to set timers manually please for the non V+ boxes, as it has it? We can only set reminders for the current day.
V+ FAQ...
"Q: What the hell is a Manual Recording?
A: Instead of telling the V+ to record a series or even a programme from the EPG, you can set it to record from a specific time and date, from a specific channel."

Re: When is the next software update planned?
For sky movies I think that if you set a channel change reminder then you can enter your PIN there and then so that you can set it to record on an external device (video or dvd recorder) when you're not there.

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Oh, dont talk to me about Sky Movies.
Im 21, the other half is 24, and we have to put a frikkin pin in every single time we wanna watch something!!!
Its so frikkin annoying.
Once again, there should be a setting in the settings menu stating that you can tun it on and off. We dont have kids, and no one needs protecting. If people need protecting, then give them the option of turning on the PIN protection IN THE SETTINGS MENU!!!

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Any chance of working subtitles on On Demand?

The PIN protection is an Ofcom ruling, and not to do with Virgin Media themselves. I'm guessing Virgin Media would love to add an option to their menus to switch it off, but Ofcom say it must stay.

The tech came out again and my signal issues, break up/pixelation/stuttering, are still the same.
The tech guy said there was a problem with the cab in the street. There should be a 10dB difference in the signals, but there was only 1dB. Whatever he did, it hasn't worked. He did say some one might be out later to see to the box, but nothing has changed.
They replaced something in the cab a few weeks, but I had the issues before that, so there seems to be some problem some where.
I did ring them up again, it took me ages to get through and explain. The second women I was put through said, I needed to be at home before she could do anything. As I was at work, she said she would ring me when i got home. No one rang back!
I'm thinking of cancelling my TV now, as I am not happy with all the problems.
I got my samsung 2110 box in March 2007, not 2006 as I said before regarding the standby issue spiderplant.

Re: When is the next software update planned?
Maybe Virgin will go for a whole new, style of menus layout etc...
Only due to the V+ being far better than the V Boxes..
But who knows until things eventually get announced or rolled out...
