Cable Splitter?

Hi, I was just wondering.. if I had a cable splitter and rigged it up to a separate box up in my room will it work? or will i have to buy a separate subscription?

to the forum

unless the box is from virgin media and you are paying a multiroom subscription of £9.50 a month, it wont work.

....although this will work if you just want the analogue channels elsewhere in the house and if you join back in the output from the STB then you'll also be able to get what ever the STB is tuned to.
