BBC tv Press Red didn't respond again this morning.
Going to Five and then back to a BBC channel got the BBC Press Red working again.
BBC radio Press Red would not work. I still can't get the BBC radio Press Red to work. I'm sure a reboot would cure this, but I didn't try that.
BBC tv Press Red does seem to load up quicker now, with a BBC "please wait" message now apearing at the same time in the bottom right, along with the Virgin "just loading" one.

Re: Interactive
I got back in after setting a few reminders and the Press Red prompt doesn't show on any channel now, apart from BBC radio, which still didn't work. This has happened before after reminders have been set. BBC Interactive via the Virgin menu worked ok though.

Re: Interactive
BBC 1 Press Red and On Demand didn't work from a power switch on this afternoon, for the rugby Interactive etc.
So I removed and reinserted the smart card, switched it into standby, and on again, and On Demand and Press Red suddenly worked.

Re: Interactive
Can the vertical and horizontal positions of the box be adjusted, as on the Interactive page, it cuts off the top of the tv window? Plus the Channel 4 channels black bars are bigger at the bottom than the top.

Re: Interactive
After a reboot I have managed to get the BBC radio interactive working for the first time. After all that I can't believe it doesn't show the "now playing" track info anywhere. Oh well.

Re: Interactive
I thought it did on radio.
I have found that if I do a lot of channel hopping, I lose Interactive and just get a blank Interactive screen.

Re: Interactive
After having just finished working in the installation department of virgin in Manchester (please do not stone me to death just yet) I can tell you this :
When a sales rep sells you cable tv they are supposed to add something on your account. This something is a tiny green word ("interactive") on a horrible black screen. They never sodding do it. We always used to have to write it in ourselves. Many people dont bother.
So heres what you need to do if your interactives doesnt work :
1. Phone customer service.
2. If you get put through to India (aaaaaaaaaagggghhhhhh) Tell them you want to be put through to "retentions" immediately or youll leave for sky.
3. Tell retentions that "dispatch"/"installs" need to add an "interactive" to your account. It takes about 2 mins to do.
Good luck - youre going to ****ing need it.

Re: Interactive
I have lost the red button interactive again, will do a reset if I need it.
I presume that as I did have it, it is not an issue to do with provisioning at Virgin's end, and the intermittent availability is just a bug they need to address?
Thanks

Re: Interactive
Why is it that they can provide interactive for any other channel and not Sky Sports after all Sky aren't allowed to pull them off.

They don't have to provide interactive services (and don't/won't), just the channels.

Re: Interactive
Anyone in a Knowsley area doesn't need the 'H1INTTV' or 'Interactive' code on their account as they're account is already integrated with it. Only Bromley/Langley and SMS regions need this code added on - which can be done by anyone. It's not so much of a regular occurance that these aren't added on anyway.
Red button issues are extremely common, I do believe that it is a bug in the system and hopefully will be rectified with the code download/UK3 in the next few weeks/month or so.

Re: Interactive
VM are just totally incompetent with this - BBC red button didn't work on my old Telewest box, and it doesn't really work on my V+ box. If I want to use BBC's interactive service, I use my £10 freeview box which works instantly! I find it amazing that
a)the amount of money we pay Virgin each month doesn't include full functionality for BBC/free to air red button (I understand why Sky doesn't work, that is a separate issue)
b) heir supposedly wonderful technology in cable can't get the red button to work
c) their "brand new" V+ boxes can't handle red button technology but £10 freeview boxes can
it is something VM really need to hang their head in shame over

Re: Interactive
Have Virgin updated/upgraded Interactive/On Demand in some way recently, as it hasn't failed to work in over a week for me?
I was wondering whether this might be the case in the run up to the launch of the BBC iPlayer.
