satellite in the US has even more HD channels then cable does, almost all of the well known networks & studios now also broadcast in HD.

broadband by satelitte is not faster, it has a max speed of 155Mbps where as fibre has a thoerical max of well over 12Gbps i dnt even knwo the exact figyure yoiu need to look up about OC3*** to se eit max speed i know OC192 is about 2Gbps

its launching next week but from onyl from red button it will eb available in catch up tv fully from may, it will be available in tv choice on demand later in the year when bbc start extending it to there full archieve
kangroo will mostly come next year

Andrew, as regards the BBC archive were they not doing a limited trial, with about 1000 hours of footage in certain areas in the UK, in the hope of rolling out the entire archive this year?

yes currently trialing now with few historic documentaries. Dont need a player its streamed. Theres a George Best interview and something about the decline in shipbuilding which I watched with interest as my father was in the industry.

from what iv seen you can get faster then 155Mbps if your willing to pay for it, however its abit of a hassle trying to find a provider in the UK. although fiber can go faster it aint happened yet in the this country.

In time we should, on the BBC website they say their aim is to make the entire archive available in the near future.

thanks for the link mate, the BBC have a massive archive so to have access to it all on VOD would be great. plus i have a MacroMaster Gold so i'l be able to add alot to my DVD collection ;o)

..but the VM site says there will be only 250 hours of programmes available instead of the current 50 hours?
So isn't this just a "bigger" BBC On Demand section?
Apart from amount of programmes what is the difference from what we already have available on demand?
