So you don't think we'll see any more HD channels ever on Virgin?
I don't think they're clinging to hope but simply observing facts. Most HD content is held by or part held by Sky, who are busy pushing their more expensive hardware solution so allowing Virgin the same content would be pointless business for them.
Analogue closing won't give bandwidth that could be used for HD, or will it?

Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.
Its true... most HD stuff has Skys crappy logo plastered all over it.
The only things that dont, are ITV, BBC, and Video On Demand stuff... the first two being available to everyone who wants it, and VoD being something that you need the technology for.
Thats why Virgin have quite specifically outlined VoD and Broadband as their main selling points, because the fact is they cant compete with the big bully at the other side of the classroom.

It is possible we could see something mentioned in the court case results this year (Summer/Autumn, Im told.) which may allow Virgin to have the HD services, if technicalities allow it, at a fixed price, much like Sports and Movies SD right now.
Everyone can blatantly see a dominance in the market here, and if Sky dont start sharing their services, then it goes to show more and more than the competition in this country will be won by one company.
And that is something that, by law, ISNT allowed. You have to have competition in all sectors to keep prices competitive for consumers.
Slowly, Sky's prices are going up, and they are getting more for their money.
What the British public needs to realise is that we dont all need to jump on the HD bandwagon straight away.
This technology is still in its infancy, yet more and more people are pushing for it right now. Its not that there is DEMAND for HD, because I dont think the majority of the British Public gives a hoot, its the fact that the public sees these shiny new gadgets and they HAVE to have them... They are being drawn in by the fancy advertising, and the promise of a more crystal clear picture etc, even if they could be the new flop in technology (See HD-DVD for reference.)

Yes it was a shame about hd dvd it was supposed to be the better off the two the main thing that went against it was with it being region free. The good thing now the war is over all those lovely bargains picked up the reaping the other day 6.99 off flea bay.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.
Andrewcrawford, following your comments, l would like to comment on the issues, which you raise, People who pay to watch Sky, pay for the service that is provided, which is about 85% / 100 as during bad weather, the signal is badly effected, cs is very good, and the problem is normal solved in a matter of minutes, with VM it is not sometimes, it last for days, when you don't get anything, as it has happened to me.
It is unfair on customers, who live in flats, where under planning law, they are NOT ALLOWED Dishes, although people do have them even on the 18th floor, aroung here blocks of flats have them, but it is mostly cable, and is a right that VM provide a service, under there contract.
As for the supposed court action, it is us the customers, who is paying this through the subs, is a duty for VM, to supply a service to its customers, and that includes all Sky channels, remember, this row only started, after Sky took ITV, from under the nose of Sir Richard Branson, who wanted to buy it, and since then, it has been spoilts brats, in the playground, you can't have my sweets, as you took my favourites, the judge in court, will throw this case out on the first day. with the statement, all the other broadcstors have accepted Sky's price, so why not VM.
