OLD BOY is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.

Any news of Voom TV, TV Boy? Such as when it is coming to VM, whether we will get the full bouquet of channels and in glorious HD, etc?

Also have you picked up any information on IPTV and whether the end user will notice a difference?

Some perpetual deniers are arguing that the introduction of the new IPTV platform is only going to change the means of bringing us our existing channels over existing bandwidth, but I see huge advantages if this system is exploited. For example, VM could do deals with LoveFilm to bring us films on a pay per view basis as well as with other TV programme providers.

What do you think or is everything hush hush at VM?

Are we likely to find out any more when the trials begin this autumn?

Haven't really kept up with stuff, but I thought the point of red-button-only ITV HD was to stop Sky customers getting it, as it's effectively an open network?

======== Channels still to appear on Ex-Telewest =======
Virgin still have to sign deals for the following ex-NTL channels to appear on the ex-Telewest Network

NO. Channel Name
231. The National Geographic Channel +1
235. The History Channel +1
545. Motors TV
811. Zee Music
812. Alpha ETC Punjabi
833. Phoenix CNE
861. BBC One England
862. BBC One Scotland
863. BBC One Northern Ireland
864. BBC One Wales
865. BBC Two England
928. Radio: Magic
929. Radio: Q
930. Radio: BBC Radio Scotland
931. Radio: BBC Radio Wales
932. Radio: BBC Radio Ulster
934. Radio: BBC Radio nan Gaidheal
936. Radio: BBC Radio Cymru
962. Radio: The Hits
963. Radio: Kiss 100
964. Radio: Kerrang!
966. Radio: Smash Hits!

NOTE: EMap Radio channels: ( Magic, Q, The Hits, Kiss 100, Kerrang!, Smash Hits! ) have all been sold to H Bauer.

======== Virgin Media Electric! news =======
In this months ''Electric!' Virgin Media have make an list of channels that are on both networks but I noted the following Ex-ntl Radio channels in it.

NO. Channel name
929. Q Radio
935. Magic
962. The Hits
963. Kiss FM
964. Kerrang Radio
966. Smash Hits Radio

So it look to me like they are coming soon to Ex-Telewest.

======== Channels still to appear on Ex-ntl: =======
Virgin still have to sign deals for the following ex-Telewest channels to appear on the ex-NTL Network

NO. Channel Name
830. Deutsche Welle TV
911. Radio: BBC Radio 4 LW
917. Radio: RTE Radio 1
920. Radio: WRN Europe
971. Radio: Deutsche Welle Radio

TV Boy Thinks: Virgin will keep Bauer Radio Channels, BBC TV and Radio Channels, Nat Geo +1, Motors TV, History channel +1 and ZEE channels and drop the rest.

I know that some radio channels are on Ex-Telewest in some parts of the UK and they will stay but will need to move all the BBC Radio channels that are only on NTL to new channels numbers so that all the Virgin Networks (Ex-ntl and Ex-Telewest) viewers can have them.

Switchover is a complicated process, and needs to be done in stages so that everyone in the country will be ready for it.

The best way to check which TV region you are in is by seeing which ITV news service you receive or by going to Teletext page 106.

*The Channel Islands will be switching over to fully digital TV and this is currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2013. The actual dates for switchover in the Channel Islands are subject to negotiations with France.

Don’t worry; you'll get plenty of notice before services in your area are affected, and advice on what to do.

======== Virgin Analogue TV news =======
Virgin will be starting the Analogue switch off soon. They will also upgrade some currently analogue areas to digital.

Virgin Media has initiated a scheme to shutdown it’s analogue Cable TV network..
Currently, around 200,000 Virgin subscribers only have analogue TV.

Virgin has begun a program of area by area upgrades, but this is a long term program and at this point in time, it is unknown how many areas actually will get upgrades. It is also possible that Virgin will not upgrade everyone in some areas.

Some customers will actually be forced off the network, but Virgin claim this will be a small number.

TV Boy

I really like your postings,so please do not take this the wrong way.

Is there any way you could just post "new " news your posts. They take a lot of wading though & my thumb getting tried on the mouse wheel!!

I think you could also just refer people back to your long & interesting list.

Also could I ask ( sorry if this not my place to MODS please amend as you see fit) that other posters dont copy the whole thing when refering to a single line for the same reason.

Sorry if this has offended any one that was not my intention .

I just dont have the time to scroll down pages of the same thing

Is there any way you could just post "new " news your posts. They take a lot of wading though & my thumb getting tried on the mouse wheel!!

I think you could also just refer people back to your long & interesting list.

Also could I ask ( sorry if this not my place to MODS please amend as you see fit) that other posters dont copy the whole thing when refering to a single line for the same reason.

Sorry if this has offended any one that was not my intention .

I just dont have the time to scroll down pages of the same thing
Someone over on DS Forum post the TWO PAGE list every week.

The only thing on the list that is the latest is upto ''The list of Channels THAT Virgin Media have worked on this week''.

I understand what you say- But just look up the page, really was there any need to post it all again, surely all that needed to be posted is the list you refer to not all the rest. I can only jump in & out for a short time. It just take so much time to scroll down

It seems you don`t understand what I mean. With out reading every line. It seems to me that for the MOST part, posts on page 95 97 98* are the repeats with a little bit of news in them (which is great)
* I didn`t look further back
Could you not edit the down a bit i.e foot ball match`s when the change over is happening etc .Do they need to be repeated every time

Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.

Virgin to launch Challenge gaming channel

Challenge Jackpot will launch on Tuesday, July 1 as a 24 hour television channel on Virgin Media cable and will also be available on Freeview and Sky via Virgin 1 and Bravo 2 simulcasts overnight. On cable, an interactive application developed by Two Way Media will enable viewers to play along with live programming on the channel; alternatively, viewers may participate on the channel's website.
