Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.

virgin media have proved they can survivie without sky, they dnt need them, sky need virgin media if the people who pay the ads want to contunie to pay sky

as for the people who cant have sky, that ther eproblem for being addicted to tv, there live outside of tv, and virgin are under no obligation to make sure they provide teh sky channels to peopel who cant have a dish.

i agree with what youa re saying that it is unfair ont eh customers but its not virign media who are to blame it is virgin media and sky for wanting to takea fight to the public to say they are better there both as bad as each other

Re: Coming soon to Virgin Media 2008.

I personally haven't got Sky, I just see it when I visit my dads, but I was under the impression that multi-room was only an additional £10 per set-top=box? Also is it true that unlike VMs additional stbs with Sky each box has to be on the same channel? if so that is obviously a big drawback, as you say Arthur VM are not going to win in a head to head war with Sky and the losers will be us the consumers, it seems to me both sides are to entrenched to back down, I hope I'm wrong and they do come to an agreement soon which will be in everybody's interest.

Id love to get a V+box mainly for HD, but with whats on offer currently its just not worth it, but if VM were to get say, The History channel HD and a few others that would make all the difference! Here's hoping eh.
I totally agree what vm need to do is try to get nat geo hd and poss discovery hd as sweeteners to keep customers happy we kept the v+ for the vod alone but a couple off hd channels would be nice but the two i mentioned would be the best as they show hd the best as far as im concerned.

As to your question, I think this is too much of a minority channel for cable, so I'll doubt VM will ever take it. News on cable is one area that really could do with improving.
im partly chinese so thats why id like to have CCTV-9. i know what kind of things they show as i watch it online.

on the news front i agree id like to see channels like Russia Today & France 24 etc coming to VM their widely available on both cable & satellite in Europe so it shouldnt be a problem having them on VM.

we're quite far behind most of the western world on the HD front, whether you have Sky or VM. look at the U.S. most channels also broadcast in HD on satellite (im not sure about cable tho but more ppl have cable so i would of thought that most would also be on cable). channels like CNN, NBC, CBS & FOX all broadcast in HD as do many other channels.

What do you mean?

Are you saying that a VM staffer said you could get Sky Sports HD on the V+ Box now?

before 100meg they need to get the speeds of 20meg and the others sort
out so we get near enough same speeds 24/7 . and they have got the
50 meg service up and runing first, and as for sky sports hd i have seen
no info about this on any section of they virgin media web site. and also
i have just come off the phone from talking to virgin media and they told me
that you can not get SKY SPORTS HD Through virginmedia not even paying
extra as they Do not offer the service. And about the 100meg internet service it is only just been talked about at this time nothing is confrimed yet. there are more tv channels in the pipeline but they could not tell me
what there are yet as talks are still on going ufitm
