you need to do bit more research DVB-C2 does exist and its coming soon.

proof is this cable magazine just check out the welcome and on page 2 it shows the info. It been in work with DVB-T2 so its likely close to completion for role out.

On page 4 there is very interesting interview with Ernie Cornier chief commercial officer of virgin media. Infact the whole mag brilliant read.

Yes thats it. You know what I'm doing just to make you look stupid!!!
You are my hero.
DVB C2 apparently exists. Never been used and nobody gets anywhere near their proposed or current channel numbers per stream. Virgin currently have a max of around 10 TV channels per mux.
Just to further cloud the water, or as I like to put it p*ss in your drink, Virgin do not source and encode any channels directly themselves so creating any highly compressed DVB C2 muxes themselves is a pipe dream.
Next idiot......

In fact the puppet from Virgin never mentions DVB C2 in the artcle. As he can't. they aren't planning on using it anytime soon.

no its not be made by VM its being developed Eurocablelabs on behalf of european cable companies. That means its been payed for by them.

Of course he did directly mention this he did not mention docsis3.0 but we know docsis3.0 getting rolled out. He did mention something which actually is very intersting that VM will be heavily investing to bring content and even be making own user-generated content.

He actually does mention about transforming the physical infrastructure and providing higher service level. By the way the whole article reads that likely shows its refering to upgrading the service provided to provide a better product for its customers. Just because not direct comment to DVB-C2 doesnt mean it wont happen maybe he under NDA at the moment as its just in development still.

What I think will happen is they will get the infrastucture upto scratch first and make it better future proofed. This is why the statement made recently about not bidding for premium content. In this comment its likely things like football live games etc.

Simply the money is already spoken for.

They will let setanta deal with this.

They will launch more HD content once system upgraded. If they pick up customers they may revue bidding for premium content.

Stop being such a pesimist the future brighter

Help Arsenal FC to get Arsenal TV on Virgin Media:

The Arsenal TV channel is now broadcasting and the feedback so far from fans has been good.
The exception is from supporters who have Virgin Media as their provider.
Arsenal and Setanta understand that the continuing absence of Arsenal TV on Virgin is frustrating for Arsenal fans.
Please be re-assured that we are continuing to work with Virgin to ensure that the channel is available as soon as possible.
To help us, we suggest that all fans that can receive the Setanta Sports pack on Virgin, or intend to subscribe to the Virgin XL pack, call the Virgin customer service centre and register an interest in receiving the Arsenal TV channel.
We want Virgin to know that there are lots of customers or potential customers that care about Arsenal and the best way for that to happen is for you to tell them.

Virgin Media have still to move the following Ex-Telewest channels to match with EPG in Ex-ntl: areas.

TBA
Television X moves from 473 to On Demand
Playboy TV Nightly moves from 475 to On Demand
The Adult Channel Nightly moves from 477 to On Demand
Spice Extreme Nightly moves from 478 to On Demand
Red Hot Just 18 moves from 480 to On Demand
Red Hot Asians moves from 482 to On Demand
Red Hot Amateur moves from 483 to On Demand
Xplicit XXX Nightly moves from 484 to On Demand

Virgin still have to sign deals for the following ex-NTL channels to appear on the ex-Telewest Network

EPG Channel Name
231. The National Geographic Channel +1
235. The History Channel +1
545. Motors TV
811. Zee Music
812. Alpha ETC Punjabi
833. Phoenix CNE
861. BBC One England
862. BBC One Scotland
863. BBC One Northern Ireland
864. BBC One Wales
865. BBC Two England
928. Radio: Magic**
929. Radio: Q**
930. Radio: BBC Radio Scotland
931. Radio: BBC Radio Wales
932. Radio: BBC Radio Ulster
934. Radio: BBC Radio nan Gaidheal
936. Radio: BBC Radio Cymru
962. Radio: The Hits**
963. Radio: Kiss 100**
964. Radio: Kerrang!**
966. Radio: Smash Hits!**

NOTE: ** = EMap Radio channels: ( Magic, Q, The Hits, Kiss 100, Kerrang!, Smash Hits! ) have all been sold to H Bauer SO Virgin need to sign an new deal to carry on getting them.

Virgin still have to sign deals for the following ex-Telewest channels to appear on the ex-NTL Network

EPG Channel Name
830. Deutsche Welle TV
911. Radio: BBC Radio 4 LW
917. Radio: RTE Radio 1
920. Radio: WRN Europe
971. Radio: Deutsche Welle Radio.

TV Boy Thinks: Virgin will keep Bauer Radio Channels, BBC TV and Radio Channels, Nat Geo +1, Motors TV, History channel +1 and ZEE channels and drop the rest.

I know that some radio channels are on Ex-Telewest in some parts of the UK and they will stay but will need to move all the BBC Radio channels that are only on NTL to new channels numbers so that all the Virgin Networks [ Ex-ntl and Ex-Telewest ] can have them.

And now for me to say thanks to the following regular contributors of this thread who give me some of my Information.
They are:- grabbi, JG3870, Jasmeet, buba3d and sakiblateef.

Because they wouldnt make any money! :P

Plus, its a good promotion for existing customers, and incentive for people to jump over, while the company (FilmFlex) continues to make money.
