Re: Virgin on Demand News
Do you know if Ghost Whisperer season 2 is coming to VoD anytime soon?

Re: Virgin on Demand News
Why can they not show a whole series for? I have just watched the first (and only on VOD) 6 episodes of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and then I found out that there are 22 episodes.

I know season 3 starts round about July, so I was just wondering when it came on OD.

Re: Virgin on Demand News
Id expect the On Demand for the last season (to use the correct term) to come live on Cable a little after the DVD Box-Sets are released, and let to simmer down.
Basically, the creators want to make money, and that is made by waiting for Consumers to buy the Highly priced DVD Box-sets.
Usually, once that has happened, youll see them on VoD.
Of course, that differs in different deals.
Disney might have said you can only have it on when we show Season 3 in the UK. In which case, Id think it'd be on by July.
EDIT: If the last season started August 14th (or thereabouts) then Id expect the same to be said about Season 3.
To answer mal, they only show a little bit of the Season, because a full season is, like, 23+ episodes. As you can assume, that takes up a lot of space and bandwidth, so they show it in parts.
When you see the "Subscription Days left," that is supposed to be an indication of when the current episodes available will be deleted, and the new ones added.
Of course, Virgin Media are Virgin Media, and sometimes, that doesnt happen.

They do show the whole series at once with some, like Lost. It's just annoying to watch a series in bits. I would rather see the whole at once, when another series has expired, than to see it in patches over a year.

Re: Virgin on Demand News
Agreed.
Again, as I say, the company, its their say at the end of the day, and thats where the consumer loses, especially in the subject of THIS company.

Re: Virgin on Demand News
The Unit has just started showing on Virgin one, and was showing on Bravo.
After it had finished on Bravo, there was nothing to suggest that Virgin had actually reached a deal to distribute the program On Demand (except Catch up, which it WAS on) so that is a mystery.
I heard Dr. Who is still being shown in the US, so once thats finished, then we will probably have a clearer idea.
The DVDs have come out, as far as I know, and we need to wait for these to be sold.

Re: Virgin on Demand News
Sorry, just found this thread. Those BBC iPlayer screenshots look amazing - I wonder if they're using server side pre-rendered video to implement that, or is that actually the graphics chip in the boxes finally flexing its muscles?
Makes the Virgin EPG look like an absolute joke IMHO.

Re: Virgin on Demand News
It certainly does! :P
Problem being that the technology used by Virgin and the BBC on this is all private, so, in theory, it all looks a lot better than the finished product we will get.
Its the same for Games, these days, as Games get dedicated consoles modified to a specification, and then the Game manufacturers pay for the Servers to test other things (like Online Multiplayer.)
This iPlayer will have been done in a private office, with a brand spanking new STB, no doubt, and with only the necessary things being sent to and from the box.
If we do get anything approaching 80% of what i have seen in the vids and images, ill be happy enough.
Anything lower, and more unreliable, is just a waste of time.
