Catch up on demand not working on V box
Hi all,
I have a friend who has a problem with catch up on demand on his V box. Basically it does not work full stop. YOu can go into the menu and select "catch up on demand" and it just says "loading" in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. The box will then freeze and you have to cold boot the box to get back in. Now VirginMedia have told him its a known problem(although its been like this for the last 3 months!!) I have a V+ box and live in the same town and all works fine. Is there anything anyone can suggest other then contact Virginmedia lol. He lives in Whittlesey, cambridgeshire.
Any help greatly recieved.
Rich

Well, apart from making sure all the cables are tightly screwed into the back of the box..

Re: Catch up on demand not working on V box
It's not a "known problem". It's probably that the account hasn't been set up properly. He'll just have to keep ringing until he gets someone who can sort it out.

Re: Catch up on demand not working on V box
Hi
I live in Surrey and at least myself and 2 neighbours have V+ boxes.
Mine was installed in June and at that time I did have VoD.( for a few weeks only)
However since then neither myself or my neighbours can access this on our V+ boxes although according to one of them their standard STB works just fine, so it doesn't seem to be a local problem.
I phoned faults and was given 3 error codes that might appear and they are:
1051, 1068 or 1081.
I was told that if it was one of these codes then it is a national problem that is being worked on for a resolution by the end of October.
I am a bit sceptical about this as it seems that some of us on these forums have it and some of us don't.
Has anybody else been given this information or was is it a fob off?
Incidentally, one of my neighbours is now on his 3rd V+ box because of reporting this fault which seems a waste of manpower and equipment, so did the guy I spoke to in faults know something their field techs do not.

Re: Catch up on demand not working on V box
It's not a national problem. But it might be a regional one. What's the first half of your postcode? And what error codes are you actually getting?

Fair enough. But it's nothing to do with the 1051/1068 etc errors. As I said, I think it's an account setup problem. It won't get fixed automatically.

Re: Catch up on demand not working on V box
are there any lights flashing on the front of the box sometimes that will give an error 1021 or 1092 but sometimes its the box that cant connect
if its flashing and a reboot does nothing your friend will need a tech
---------- Post added at 14:56 ---------- Previous post was at 14:55 ----------
sorry....that didnt make sense did it? it doesnt always give an error code it may freeze but the light may still be flashing
