Techno Help Needed PLeeeeeaseee

Ok we have bought a Sony Bravia HD TV and a Sony DVD Hard drive recorder. We have freeview installed on the TV and a Virgin set top box. Is it possible to record from Virgin STB without having to change the channels manually? we have some gizmo that sits onto of the STB and "should" change the channel on the STB but it doesnt????? Its about to get my foot through it as it is driving us insane! anybody know anything.......

to the site.

If you a V+ box, it will record programs off channels without needing to change the channel. That's the best option.

Failing that, which make of box do you have? Some of the old Pace boxes don't respond to the IR as they use non-standard codes.

Re: Techno Help Needed PLeeeeeaseee

Virgin won't upgrade your box simply because its an older Pace model. Even as they are replaced, I hear Pace boxes are still being re-distributed.

AFAIK you can buy "magic eyes" that work with Pace boxes to forward IR signals on, but I think this only works with remotes, and not with DVD recorders/Tivo.

I didn't think Pace boxes lasted 7 years.
Don't they usually die every 18 months or so :p

The Pace 1000 series are a bit like Lada cars, sluggish and painful to use, but just won't die.
