Does this mean Virgin Media will have to offer the channel to non-HD subscribers now? It would be nice to have it on non-HD boxes - they do show a different schedule most of the time.

Re: New bbc HD Channel?

I'd have thought it unlikely. The digital channels don't appear on the analogue service (or do they?)

They had the BBC media bloke on 5live talking about it.

He said it has to go for consultation(who with ?), which he says has already started, until November and then they hope to launch in December.

Why have an HD channel on non-HD boxes?

Virgin need to get there act together and start carrying more HD channels. They truly are lagging behind Sky.

For the different programmes (I know it sounds stupid having BBC HD in standard def, but it would still be nice to see the programmes on there in SD). Could be used as a good promotional piece as well ("See this programme in HD with a V+ box").

the rest of bbc channels are in SD , what's the point of them releasing a proper HD then downscale it to SD doesn't make sense lol and they are not aiming for that they are aiming at releasing a HD channel you want the HD eithe rpay virgin for the v+ box or wait until they release it on freeview its that simple lol besides they have already stated that the content will be taken from other bbc channels so its not like your missing out lol

Aint that the truth. I've been looking at what's on HD on my v+ box in advance of setting it up via HDMI tomorrow and am not that impressed with the amount of HD contenet. Still I just watched an episode of Torchwood in HD from elesewhere and am more than a little impressed

Hi,

even though I subscribe to VM I have the strong belief that HD channels should be available for all digital customers.

If anybody is interested here is a link http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/consul...v_consult.html to the BBC Trust asking your online opinion in relation to a interim trail of a 4 hour BBC HD channel on Freeview

erm it is available to all digital customers if you pay for the v+ box , let me guess you dont want to pay for it yet want it to be free thats just daft if you want hd content pay for the damn box jeez its only a one off payment give the poor sods some money lol god only knows they need it with the amount of free loaders trying to get something for nothing all the time , even if you bought a decent freeview box with a hard drive in it you looking at the same price if not more exspensive
