Holiday settings

When you go away for 2 weeks or so do you turn of the boxes at the mains or leave them on sleep/standby?
Will 2 weeks switched off at the mains mean having to call 151 to reset channels?
Thanks
Dave

Re: Holiday settings

I unplug mine, as standby doesn't really consume much less power. Its 8% less or something silly.

Providing you remain paying your bill etc, you shouldn't need to call them up again. Just plug it back in and away you go.

Re: Holiday settings

I live mine on standby, I have a series link set for am and afternoons whilst I'm in work and I'd probably forget to turn it back on of a morning.

Re: Holiday settings

If you are away from home on holiday why leave it plugged in ?
I unplug modem and PC from the wall sockets and disconnect ethernet cable and plugs to my Hifi and TV.
This is in case of lightening strikes, fire risk, and the fact I don't want to go on holiday and leave things turned on.

Re: Holiday settings

I generally unplug stuff when we go on holiday, there's no need to leave stuff plugged in unless your V+ box has planned recordings. Any updates you've missed will be downloaded when you turn your box back on.

I don't turn any VM stuff at night as it takes an age to boot up.
