Copying from TV Drive to DVD

I've one of the old Telewest-branded TV Drives which is working perfectly apart from a problem which has only recently developed.

When I copy recorded programmes from the TV Drive to DVD, everything goes well to start with. Then after about 40 minutes into, say a 60 minute programme, the audio cuts out of the programme I'm archiving; there's some electronic noise; then the audio from whichever channel the drive is tuned to bleeds through gradually. The end result is that the recording is 100% fine on vision, but sound has about 2/3rds of the 'proper' audio and 1/3rd of the live channel's audio.

Any ideas what seems to be the problem? I suspect it'll mean a new V+ box which is a shame as I've got quite a few programmes recorded which I'd like to archive.

Ive had the same problem... but NO ONE HAS A CURE, and VM would look at you stupid if you said it...

VM dont even know what it is, but what I am trying to do, is record it to DVD then uplaod it so they will know what I mean... unfortunatly, I dont think I have kept the "failed" recodings on disc, because I lose it when it happens, as its really annoying.

It happens on really long programs for me.

Its like the tuners get crossed, so you end up with the right vision, but the wrong audio. Yo get the "Live" audio.

Its stupid!

Thanks for this reply. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem although I've discovered through trial and error that it only seems to happen when the V+ box is tuned to channel 108 (the BBC HD Preview channel) when you're archiving material - so the solution is to make sure you're not when you're backing up!!

It Sounds to me like some sort of connection issue that you folks are having. I take it when you play back your recorded programmes through the V+ box it has the correct audio? Are you tring to upoad the content to your PC? or is it a dvd recorder? More details on what way you are connected up there needed?

Yes, when I play programmes back from the V+ box, there are no problems with the audio. The problem only happens when archiving material to DVD and only, it seems, when the box is tuned to channel 108. Switching to another channel eradicates the problem completely. It seems unlikely to be a connection problem as the audio from the live broadcast starts to bleed about 40 mins into a 60minute archiving session and I haven't changed or messed with any leads in the interim.
