V+ constantly rebooting

Engineer coming out today to check the V+. Starts up, flashes a few lights then reboots itself. Connection light doesn't lock but BB is fine, I get the 20M I part pay for.

Typical though the DTV also goes off this weekend. It came back Sunday. BBC stuff top signal strength other channel weaker, some not at all.

Anywho I will put up the name of the engineer on here if the service is excellent as well as trying to tell their managers. Good work deserves recognition.

Re: V+ constantly rebooting

I had the same problem and they just replaced the V+ box, which fixed it.

Which means loss of 30 hrs of Numberjacks. What a disaster! How could this happen? What will the hoodie pictured left do?

Shame the beastie can't be plopped onto my LAN to ease backing up HD for this sort of thing. Even if backup files are not usable outside of a V+ box.

Re: V+ constantly rebooting

I doubt there is any access to the hard drive of the V+ box, although I thought they might use some MPEG format to store the video data. I wish someone would find a way of downloading stuff from it - then we could just get an external HDrive to store all these lovely HD programmes.

Re: V+ constantly rebooting

One very competent chap called Mark arrived in the 1600-1900 slot. Swapped out V+, got one of the Black VM branded boxes now which he reckons were the better units (apparently a new model is being evaluated).

Just needed to phone up to activate PIN and we are away. Now just a wee issue with the EPG not seeing some CBEEBIES programmes as series but noting major.

Well done Mark and VM.

(I have emailed Mark's line manager to commend him also, one of the advantages of inside knowledge).
