V+ box is wiggging out

I have the Telewest branded V+ box and a Toshiba 32 WLT 66.

All over the weekend it's been flashing for a split second blue solid screen. It's not long enough that you lose the flow of any TV shows but it's enough to be annoying. There is no pattern or set amount of time as it il happen once then be fine for anywhere from 3 - 50 secs and then conversely it will flash multiple times over 5 secs.

I have tried both soft and hard resets on the box, checked my HDMI cable even swapped the port over on the TV. I can't acid test the TV as my V+ box is my only HDMI device but needless to say the TV doesn't do it whilst monitoring a DVD via SCART, HandyCam via comp or my PS2 vis SCART or comp.

Now I have had this problem before on several other boxes last year in the "dark times" before the Firmware update along with multiple other niggly annoying bit's and bobs that ran into a list of over 15 issues - but as said the majority were resolved about 3 months ago or so.

Does anyone have any ideas or do I gotta ring CS and have a replacement box slung in ?? Which is CS's answer to everything and a real waste of VM's resources and my time (personally I'd sooner them be spending time and money on stablising the V+ product and it's interactive facilities).

Your thoughts please

K

Re: V+ box is wiggging out

You get the blue screen on a Tosh when the signal feed is lost into the port. Could be the port, V+ or the HDMI cable.

With my Bravia I used to get momentary flashes. I swapped the HDMI cable around and cleaned the contacts and it was fine for a few months but I ended up having to replace the cable.

I don't think the HDMI cable that came with the V+ was very good quality (what a shock!!)

guillaumez is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: V+ box is wiggging out

Probably faulty HDMI cable.

I had same problem until I couldn't get anything at all, I ended up throwing it throw the window and now no problem with replacement cable

when the guy came to replace the cable he admitted that they were having loads of return/problem/fault due to poor cables

Re: V+ box is wiggging out

Arrrgggghhhhh!!!!!! B***ocks!!!

Bought a new HDMI cable and still got the flashing

Still got the same problem even after a CS lady person type thing sent some "Magical Boost" to my STB and after performing a hard reset for her too!!! So now I gotta have a Tech come out to me which is a lucky dip as to whether I get a bloke who knows what he's doing or a doofus who don't.

The last mug - er sorry, Tech I had said my signal was over modulating and then proceeded to stick in about 2 ft of atenuators (filters) out the back of my SciAt Cable Modem.

AND on top of all that I'm now shy of 45 quid for the HDMI cable
