So if you pay the £100 for having a V+ already do you own the box and do VM still service it for free?

If you have a TV with an HDMI port and you want the flexibility offered by a hard disk recorder with series link and the ability to pause live tv, then yes if not then no

I don't have an HD TV so I'm not bothered by that aspect but as rakkor says the hard drive and pause are great. This is why I got it in the first place. Once you have this facility you wouldn't want to be without it.

Re: virgin to scrap V PLUS CHARGE

So just to confirm my understanding is correct:

For VM customers on a basic TV package: V+ £5 pm
For Sky customers on a basic TV pacakge: Sky+ £0 pm

Doesn't seem like a very good deal from VM to me, or am I missing anything?

You are potentially missing something.
Sky+ must have £15 subscription
V+ must have Free TV, cost nothing when you have the phoneline @ £11.

Which is better?
