some V+ Vip questions

I noticed if I want to upgrade I have to take a new package to get free installation according to the website. However I have all the services broadband, telephone, XL TV package and already have 2 set top boxes. So it seems the way I read it I will be forced to have 3 boxes and be charged to upgrade and pay £75. With only 2 people in the house there absolute no need for 3 set top boxes.

Also if I go Vip as this is free installation will they do a swap option as its not clear the installation rules. As my working out vip would be a cheaper option if I am forced to take 3 set top charge and a £75 installation cost. Is this not the case for those who have already 2 boxes I will get charged £90 & not the designated price of £85 due to they wont swap. Its not really that clear on VM website.

Finally to use the extra tuners the V+ has in the box does it need a set top box for every tuner.

Re: some V+ Vip questions

They swap your main box for a V+ box, you will be left with 2 set top boxes as normal.

thanks I would assume this Vip. I am getting HD tv nothing special due to budget and costs of HD tv's at the moment for my Ps3 a Goodmans 20". I will upgrade to a better one later. Which means will need a V+ for sure.

Does this upscale channels who don't transmit HD content. What resolution will the content be broadcasting 720p. Now I have been reading we only have Beeb thanks to SKy. I did read History channel is going to have a HD channel in september. I would assume we are likely to receive this on VM network.

Re: some V+ Vip questions

You won't see any change in the channels not outputting HD as far as I know, only HD channels will look how you expect.

Re: some V+ Vip questions

V+ upscales SD to either 720p or 1080i which is selectable from the setup options. It improves the SD picture quite a bit, but not to HD quality.

I've had V+ for a week now connected via HDMI and the pq is bloody amazing due to upscaling, well impressed and will not go back to Freeview.

I've had my V+ for nearly four months now and I still find the upscaled sd picture quality to be superb. Much better than feeview on my tv. It cant of course improve it to HD quality but it is much nearer to full HD than I expected it to be.

Re: some V+ Vip questions

thanks guys sounds like I better upgrade once I get it delivered on thursday. Now I am aware there is an upscaling capability. I cant see me getting 1080i as the its a 1680 x 1050 screen resolution.

http://www.goodmans.co.uk/productdet...language=en-GB

Who knows Although it does state HDReady and well aware this like hybrid to true HD and the fact its a goodmans which cost not a lot £££ for HD. I not really expecting bells and whistles of vivid sensation quality. There often a reasin why thinks cost £800 and something less than £300. So I think I will see a difference just not to the level you guys.

Re: some V+ Vip questions

My TV is a cheapo Bush HD. The HD picture is brilliant and the improvement to the SD is really noticeable.

Yep nearly got this but it does not have headphone capability which is necessary for me unfortunately.

I thinking the Vip might be the better option with whats happened to my 2meg broadband after 4pm but thats another story. At some point I might have 2 HD tv's at the price of these. Now I would assume you cannot get HD via standard Boxes.

Likely going to annoy the engineer as my main box is in the bedroom not the living room. I cannot see my mum handling the V+. Its bad enough getting to work the standard box. So I would assume I can have instalation wherever.

Yes the V+ is the only way to get HD. Can't see why the fitter would have any problem putting main box in a bedroom.

I know what you mean about your Mum my Father would never have coped with the V+ remote. I am slowly replacing my other old TVs with Freeveiw LCD TVs to get ready for the analogue switch off (easier for the older members of the family to use when they come to stay)
