Pace DITV1000 and Gemini 8GFS Touch-screen Remote

Hello all,

A first time poster here, so hope I'm doing the right things in the right place.

I take cable television, internet and telephone from what is now Virgin Media, but even pre-dating NTL, the hardware was installed originally by Cable & Wireless.

My cable television remote control has lately become the worse for wear, courtesy of my very young grand-children, so I went about replacing it.

I bought the Gemini 8GFS touch-screen remote as it had some good write-ups and was very reasonably priced.

This remote control has something like 4 ways to configure it to replace the original unit, but I can't persuade any of them to operate the Pace DITV1000 controller.

From what I read on various similar forums, I think I may have wasted my cash, so I'm not optimistic.

I have a JVC AV-21TS4EK televison and a Philips DVD player.

So far I can persuade the controller to operate the television, but nothing else.

I've tried all the Pace codes in the Owner's Manual, but none of them work.

I found some alternative ones on the forums: 1068 or 0276 - but these have 4 digits and the controller will only accept a 3 digit figure.

I have also read about the "different" IR communication used with this particular Pace unit.

It's no big deal, but I would like to stop flogging the proverbial dead horse if there is no prospect of this controller handling my humble set-up and use the time more productively elsewhere.

If anyone can put me out of my misery, it would be very helpful.

Many thanks.

I think the Pace uses IRDA instead of IR,there has been some other threads on this. If you use the search you should find some info on it.

Medion remote controls can operate the IrDA Pace DiTV-1000 by using the 3-digit code 606.
Should this code happen to work with the Gemini remote, then the Philips DVD player codes to try are 362, 370, 379.
It also depends on whether the Gemini 8GFS supports IrDA, as not many universal remote controls do.
If you have cycled through all of the codes in it's memory store then it doesn't.
You could try to get your old Pace STB replaced with a new Samsung STB.

Re: Pace DITV1000 and Gemini 8GFS Touch-screen Remote

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the interest.

Yup, according to this and other forums, the Pace box is IRDA compatible, which would account for the lack of response whatever method is used to configure the Gemini remote.

I tried to get the Pace box replaced by complaining about a problem that has been driving me mad over the last 3 or 4 months (just plain yellow straps where the information about the current and next programmes should be!) but was told that "Our engineers know about this fault and are looking into it. It is not a problem with the set top box".

Anyone else had this problem and had a different response?
