Exclamation Widescreen forsage . . .

I now have a Top Up TV box which forces widescreen on all the Channel 4 channels (E4, Film4 etc.) I will be getting VM TV on 24th April and was just wondering if the regular V box does this. Please could someone check and reply. Many thanks! I have 4:3 TV so don't watch in widescreen.

to Cable Forum.

You will be fine, there are two 4:3 settings (Pan/Scan & Letterbox).

Re: Widescreen forsage . . .

Thanks. Some people on another forum have said that even though it is set to Pan and Scan on their 4:3 TV it will still show in widescreen.

Re: Widescreen forsage . . .

Channel 4 use AFD's. These can force 4:3 STB's to show widescreen programs in letterbox despite what your STB is set to. Usually the TV companies only use AFD's to force letterbox on things like films where action at the sides of the screen is thought essential to the plot.

Re: Widescreen forsage . . .

I tried it out for you and it doesn't seem to go in widescreen on a 4:3 TV. It could be certain programmes that force widescreen?
