Virgin no longer collecting old boxes?

Just been browsing eBay and noticed the usual few people trying to sell their old Samsung and Pace boxes.

As usual, they'll probably get taken down pretty quickly but I also saw a few listings claimed that as of 10th April, Virgin Media were no longer collecting old boxes (and presumably implying that the box was the customers to sell).

Anyone know if this is true?

They don't take away the old analogue boxes, I've still got two of them kicking around as the installer wouldn't take them back!

Re: Virgin no longer collecting old boxes?

Those analogue boxes are good boxes - much better than the rubbish Pace boxes they forced upon us all but don't actually work.

Do you know if this is certain? Call me sentimental (or crazy), but I am going to have to upgrade to digital soon, but don't want to lose my little analogue box. It's been a good friend over the years and a good fixture of the room, even if it will no longer work after the new system is installed, it would be a shame to see it hauled away! It's one of the old analogue general instruments boxes

Re: Virgin no longer collecting old boxes?

It will become useless when they switch you over to Digital AFAIK anyway and in a couple of years time it'll be completely redundant when VM turn off the Analogue feed.

Re: Virgin no longer collecting old boxes?

I am having an extra STB fitted, not the V+ box but the standard STB. The box I have now is the silver samsung SMT-2100C.

Does anyone know what box I can expect to get next week.?

I really dont want one of those black pace boxes

Thanks.

Re: Virgin no longer collecting old boxes?

When we had our second STB fitted a few months ago we asked for a Samsung box like the one we already had - but the engineer said they didn't have any.

I think it is certain as my relative recently switched from VM Analogue to Sky as there's no digital in her area. She got a letter from VM saying that they will not collect the box so you can dispose of it.

Yes thats because it's an Analoge STB, they still collect the Digi STB's.
