New tv

My wife says it would be nice if we got a new tv, Bit more modern then what we have at the moment. But my question is
When you get a new tv , and then connect the virgin media equipment up to it will all the channels automatically be found , or do you have to do something like choose a channel and programe it in sort of thing you do when installing a vidio recorder. Or will it be a case of calling an engineer in to do it. many thanks

Re: New tv

Most TV's have auto install buttons these days, which find all the channnels for you.

If you have a STB with a scart lead, just plug into TV and away you go, no need to tunes channels with STB.

Re: New tv

All your channels are configured on your VM control box (mine's a PACE unit) and not in your existing Tele.

When I got a new TV I connected up using a SCART cable from the control box to my TV and "hey presto" works a treat

Re: New tv

The auto tune systems on TVs (and VCRs) are designed to detect and install terrestrial channels via the RF (coaxial) rooftop type aerial. However it will also find the single channel output from a STB if you connect that way, but may get confused as to which channel number on the TV to assign it.

Scart is easy - that will just be on AV#1 or AV#2 depending on which one you plug in. Of course if you get the V+ STB then you'll have additional options for HD type connections, if your posh new TV supports it
