Re: >> Bbc Hd <<

Just watched some of the match - not very exciting. HD vs BBC1 is clearer when players are still or not much action is going on, but I still get blurring when the players run or the camera pans quickly. I have set output as 1080 wide and my tv is supposed to be 1360 - will VM upgrade their output to match the higher resolution of my tv or am stuck with the blurring?

1080 is the highest any broadcaster transmits HD in.

Re: >> Bbc Hd <<

What res is your tv and are you getting blurring when watching the football? As I said when the players and/or the camera are still it looks very clear, but as soon as the camera pans the grass blurs - have to say it feels like my eyes are straining to keep up!

Thats normal, its simply camera blur and there is nothing you can do about it as its an issue at the source.

The same thing happens with your eyes if you wave your hands about in front of them.

1080 it's the highest resolution, as you know there are 1080i(interlaced) and 1080p,(progressive) V+ broadcast 1080i( you can get 1080p on BR and HD-DVD), in fact 1080p is better but on big screens, 42', on smaller you dont see differences. Your not happy with quality of the match last night('corse 1080i) , I dont think it's V+ fault, I watched the last night's match too and didn't notice any bluring, picture on my tv were very nice, there was DolbyPrologic too So we could get what we want.
Probably the reason is your TV, what about 720p...? just try and tell whether picture are better, the same or worse. It's digital tv and the quality can be depends of lots of things even the leads.

1080 refers to the vertical resolution, a throwback to analogue days when a cathode ray traced out the picture in a fixed number of horizontal sweeps (625 here in the UK, 525 in the US). In widescreen it's 1920x1080. Sounds like your TV is 1360x768, so the resolution should be high enough.

The 720 setting trades sharpness of picture for smoothness of motion, but so much depends on your television. Some LCDs simply can't update fast enough, particularly for low-contrast images.
