Virgin TV steps in over quiz scandal
Quote:
Virgin Media is to review all programmes on its channels that use premium-rate phone competitions, as the fall-out from the TV quiz scandal - first highlighted by Financial Mail --spread this weekend.
Malcolm Wall, chief executive of Virgin Media's content division, will examine its own channels and premium-rate phone shows on channels it carries for other broadcasters.
The move came at the end of a week that saw ITV suspend its main quiz channel, while Channel 5 took its quiz show Brainteaser off the air. Channel Four continued its review of premium-rate phone lines on some of its shows.
Unlike rival satellite pay-TV provider BSkyB, Virgin Media is not an 'open access' service and is not legally obliged to carry all channels from any broadcaster that pays it to do so.
Among channels affected by Virgin's review will be FTN, an entertainment channel on Freeview, which screens highlights of Virgin Media's Challenge, Trouble, Living and Bravo channels.

Good on 'em. It's a rip off that should end.

I can't stand to watch those quizzers where they ask you a question that a six month old baby could answer and they give you three sets of answers. One answer everyone knows is right and the other two you would have to be stark raving bonkers to answer.
I say scrap these sort of things. Get them off the air.

Used to work for a company running premium rate call lines before the company was sold to Eckho screening the answers and finding 'a winner' and you wouldn't believe how many people got the wrong answers
