Anyone else still got an Analogue box

Think we've had Ntl cable about 9 years and are still using the same General Instrument black analogue box. We've never had a call about replacing/upgrading it so are uncertain what we may be missing.

We also have 4mb internet using a home120 cable modem plus the standard phone package (that is no inclusive call deals or discounts). Would like a wireless modem if thats something they offer as the kids would rather use their laptops upstairs.

Have thought about ringing but am so far out of the loop that really unsure where to begin.

Are any other people still using Analogue boxes and are they gonna switch the service off soon even though we dont get much on it, if I ask for a digital box is it just a case of switching the box or would they move the existing box upstairs.

I've tried reading up on all this but cant find any info on analogue upgrades and dont want to ring up and get bamboozeled with choices/options.

Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Anyone else still got an Analogue box

The digital box will just replace the analogue box - no need to move it (unless you want to).

Virgin Media do not do a wireless modem but you can buy your own wireless router that plugs into your current modem.

Erm, Virgin will give you a free WiFi router if you're on the 4MB or above package, just ring customer services.

Re: Anyone else still got an Analogue box

I'm a old Analouge User too... Will not Upgrade untill the VERY end. (2010 or 2012)... I tried NTL Digital & it was soo bad I took them to X-Ray (Welsh version of Watchdog)...

I am happy with Analouge, 4MB B/Band and Phone. No need of 100+ TV Channels I wont watch. No Need of Internation Call Package as I use VOIP Phone & get low cost calls overseas.

Wireless is easy to install on NTL Modems. £40 - £50 you can get a smart Linksys Router & your kids laptops will be online in 10 minutes.

Doesn't analogue switch-off in 2009 in Wales?

I hope so, then the all digital channels can be put back where they're supposed to be... and be receivable....

I, too, have an analogue box... but am waiting for all this Sky/VM furore to be completed before I make a decision to go digital (free TV with phoneline) and save a few quid, or make another decision.

Is that confirmed or from the bloke down the pub? I know a couple of families on 4meg that would take that up if it's correct.

Re: Anyone else still got an Analogue box

was told today by CS that they have or are going to stop doing them.

As if you have 10mb you carnt get 10mb over wireless, you have to use wired.
