Sky's top shows to go terrestrial
Sky is to make some of its most popular programmes, movies and sports available on digital terrestrial television.
The four channels on the new service will offer a range of shows for a monthly subscription from this summer.
Viewers will receive them through a normal TV aerial, with a new set-top box, rather than a satellite dish.
Sky Three, Sky News and Sky Sports News will disappear from digital terrestrial to make way. Media regulator Ofcom must approve the plans before they go ahead.

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
I'd stay with Virgin. It's not as if the loss means anything. The only show I'd miss is The Simpsons, and that's only new episodes.

If only RB was looking at this thread. He could stop the Sky channels and Sky would lose out big time.

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
We are more likely to get price reductions if Virgin do call Skys bluff and let go of their channels.

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
Given the amount of content being lined up for Virgin Central I wouldnt be too bothered if we did lose the sky channels. Virgin currently has Alliance Atlantis (distributor of shows such as CSI etc), Disney/Buena Vista and now HBO signed up for it. The only company missing for me is Fox but we'll never get that in a month of Mondays...

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
Again the only answer is to download what you want to watch from the net, if your like me there is not a lot of Sky1 series that are so important that I'd switch.

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
Hi I'm new here. I have just phoned yesterday to get Virgin cable installed and it was fitted this morning. I am already a SKY subscriber (cancellation in progress) so there is no way I would go back if they pulled those channels. I don't think I have ever watched any of them other than Sky One on occasion. I hate Murdoch.

Re: SKY VS Virgin Media
i emailed sky the other day calling them a pack of greedy babies .............here`s their reply.
Thanks for taking the time to contact us about this.
I want to reassure you that our goal is that Sky One, Sky News and Sky's
other basic channels will continue to be available to Virgin Media
customers. In fact, we hope that Virgin Media will choose to carry some
additional Sky channels such as Artsworld and Sky Three in the future as
well.
At the moment, we're working towards a new agreement that will keep these
channels on air. We want to avoid any disruption but, ultimately, it is
Virgin Media's choice whether to continue to offer our channels.
We know that many cable TV customers enjoy watching Sky basic channels. We
appreciate their loyalty as viewers and we think it's right that they should
be informed about the situation. That's why we have been broadcasting some
information on our channels.
Thanks again for contacting us.

I just can't get over people saying pay the price over in the "discount" thread but over here people want Virgin to pay less than the supplier wants. Double standards!
