How can you tell what's going to be on VOD?

How can you tell if a programme is going to be on NTL "on demand"? Is it random?

Simple answer, with difficulty.

It does make the "pick of the week" options rather unreliable, especially as if something goes wrong, even a series you thought you'd seen the first five episodes, suddenly doesn't appear.

It's why you need the tvdrive

Or a standard VCR
The wife regularly misses out on Casualty and Holby as they sometimes don't appear. If you really want to see it, I suggest you record it in case it doesn't appear.
Apparantly after ER they announced that if you had missed it, you could catch it on 4 on demand, however she's been looking and it never appeared in the list.

Casualty & Holby on BBC programmes not Channel 4 ones. So they wont be on 4oD.

I doubt ER will be on Pick of the Week as it is not a programme commissioned by C4. Try the TV Hits section. If it isn't there maybe the announcer meant it'd be on the the online version of 4oD. If this is true, then you need to pay to watch it. Most of the content on the online version of 4oD needs to be paid for, even the content that is free in the Pick Of The Week section of ntl:telewest On Demand

Re: How can you tell what's going to be on VOD?

Would it be that difficult for them to put a little OD icon on the info page for that programme, similar to the W and S icons for widescreen and Subtitles?

That's how they have it on Homechoice. There's a 'R' next to things that are going to be available on demand.
