Re: NTL Didgital Tuning
Is this with an STB? (Set-Top-Box).
If so, then you can only really get it on one TV, unless you have multiple STB's afaik.
It's like sky in that respect.

Re: NTL Digital Tuning
Hi I have the silver samsung NTL box which is connected to the main TV via a scart. I then have a areal cable from the Samsung bos that connects to a multi areal hub ( I dont know the technical name) where the other two areals connect to this box is then plugged into the video. The video is then conneted by a scart to the main TV.
I had it set up this way before and it worke fine. I am just wondering if during the new instalation one of the leads got misconnected?
any advice would be great.
thank you

Ah, ok. Yes, that is possible. It's also possible that the new STB is on a completely different frequency.. You'd need to tune the VCR into it if that is the case, not the TV (as it is using SCART, the TV has no concept of tuning).
Check all the cables first, and make sure that the STB doesn't turn off the antenna output if a SCART socket is in use.. (It shouldn't, but it wouldn't surprise me if it does...).

It doesn't turn off the RF output when using SCART. However, I had this setup at home so I could run the bedroom TV off the RF and the TV in the bedroom seems to lose the signal from the Samsung box all the time. You tune it in and it's fine, after a couple of hours the signal starts to degrade (similar to interference or poor signal on analogue terrestrial) until it's completely unwatchable after a day or so. Only way I found to get the signal back was to change the RF output channel on the STB and retune the TV which is a pain in the butt when you have to do it every other day
I'm now considering getting the TV Drive/V+HD box for the living room and having the Samsung STB in the bedroom but I don't really wanna give NTL another 15 quid a month.

Re: NTL Digital Tuning
To be honest that sounds like a faulty STB... Either that or faulty cabling.
Try running your main telly off the analogue tuning (with or w/o a vcr or some other device in between), and see what happens.. Just a thought.
If it does the same, call them up and complain.. Explain the problem, tell them you want to complain.. You'll likely get a much quicker response that way...

Re: NTL Digital Tuning
I suspect it is the box, since the picture is fine when you first tune it in. To be honest, I've given up with it anyway since the TV in the bedroom is 4:3 and the TV in the living room is 16:9 and with the STB set for 16:9 the picture is all squished up in the bedroom. I have a freeview PVR in the bedroom which works great off a set top aerial. Most of what we watch late at night is on freeview so it works fine for us for now.
If we decide we really want it later, I'll persue it through faults but I don't really have the time to waste queuing/on hold at the moment. I would quite like the V+ box purely for it's PVR capabilities and series linking but I can get by with the Freeview PVR for now.
