You are kidding right ???, the SKY HD Box is miles better than NTL's and as far as I know has more HD Content than NTL's does as well.
Not just my word for it if you do a search on these forums you will see not only the picture quality but the useability of it also.

Can the Sky HD Box record two programs whilst watching a third?
Content has nothing to do with the quality of the box from a technical standpoint.

Agreed, it's completely separate.
I'd love to know what pictures he was talking about that shows this dwarf in picture quality when viewing HD content on both, and both have HD TV sets.
Fact: The Sky HD box is not miles better than Virgin's.

Re: Virgin Media News
Sky Channels on Virgin Media Latest:
An incrasingly row could see BSkyB pull some of their Channels from Virgin Media next week, depriving cable viewers of hit series such as 'Lost' and '24'. The wrangle, which could see Sky One, Sky Sports News, Sky Travel and Sky News all removed from the cable firm, which was launched on Thursday by NTL Telewest.
BSkyB and Virgin Media have been locked in negatiations over the amount each pays to carry the other's TV Channels. Talks over whether Virgin Media will carry the Sky channels have a deadline of the end of the month. BSkyB is understood to be offering extra channels to Virgin Media, including Artsworld [Soon to be Sky Arts ] and Sky Three, as a package along with its basic channels. A Virgin Media source said: 'This is a totally economic decision for us. The negotiations are going right down to the wire.'
Info from The Mail on Sunday.

Re: Virgin Media News
Tv boy is always saying we;re going to get new channels etc I'm guessing it's all just rumors etc, sky won't pull sky one if they do they should have all the good shows taken from them and shown on a channel where everyone can see it

Well it won't be next week then, not if the contract is to the end of the month, i'm sure they'll come to some agreement, the last thing richard branson wants is to lose sky one, all my fav shows are on that channel and yes I know I can download them but we watch them as a family, not just me so if sky goes i'd have to go but i expect the opposite will happen and we will get more channels and one other thing, you got this information from the mail, not exactly the most reliable of souces

Re: Virgin Media News
I would imagine if Sky do throw there dummy out of the pram. Pull these channels virgin media would copy and will pull there channels from SKY.
SKY will end up the bigger losers as although SKY ONE is popular. I would think SKY would get loads of complaints if they lost the popular UK tv franchise channels like GOLD, LIVING etc. Would SKY subscribers stick with an americanisation product for general entertainment. I doubt it. The only thing SKY would have is there football. Frankly the bubble going to burst with the poor standards of premiership football on offer. Gates are down at grounds already and people will start to switch off.
In the end SKY would have to be climb down as they cannot rely on a sole product to entice keep UK customers. Long term SKY will lose there appeal as there system is weaker system than cable. A dish can be knocked out of line and eliments interfere with signals. Then in time SKY will have to replace there satalite.
Cable in long term has them over a barrel in terms what they can provide in inovision what sky cannot. You only can see SKY dominance shrink further. I see the only future for them is to provide channels for others. The dish will die a slow painful death.

Re: Virgin Media News
I doubt we'll see Sky One being pulled, there would be an uproar!
Most of what I watch is on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Sky One and E4... so without Sky One I'd probably get Top-up TV or wait to see if Sky One will be Skys DTT offering.

Re: Virgin Media News
I think mertle was on about Virgin Media pulling the following channels from Sky Digital:
Living TV Channels, Bravo Channels, Challenge Channels and FTN/
