Re: USB and ETHERNET Port On Telewest box

The PVR box is a generic one, available to many cable cos. It is then tailored by the end cable co to their specific network. That tailoring process decides what ports are needed. Having said that some ports may be of use during the initial configuration setup before it leaves a workshop.

As said, Telewest don't "make" the boxes. It's a bit like a PC, you may not need 10 USB Ports and a Firewire port, but they're there anyway.

The tv drive box has usb to add an external hard drive but it's not active yet. the old box was made for any eventuality of future applications and not needed now like the second card slot that is now covered.

Re: USB and ETHERNET Port On Telewest box

The usb ports do nothing, they are disabled.

We hear reports of the external HDD for the TVDrive but as of yet nothing confirmed to us (us being internal).

Re: USB and ETHERNET Port On Telewest box

Hi,
Currently my wireless access point runs from my tv drive box. Has been like this since we went wireless a few years ago. Before, it was running from the pace box. At present the netgear access point runs to an Ethernet port thingy in the back of the box. A Netgear adapter is plugged into pc.
Telewest are coming later to install a wired to wireless modem though, so we can go to 2 meg (currently can only run 1 meg through the box)
