New customer ...Almost

Hi all

Just signed up for a telewest package TV/BB/Phone, now I am a bit concerned about the set top box, at present with the sky digi box I have the terrestral tv arial on the RF in and can get all Terrestral channels and sky channels on the RF out this goes to the vcr and from vcr to distribution amp then out to 3 other tvs in the bedrooms, ok I can only view the selected sky channel on all the tvs or the terrestal channels and cant change sky channels from the bedrooms without using an infrared extender, what I need to know is will I still be able to do this with cable? do all cable boxes have RF in/out and if so is the cable signal present on the RF out along with the 5 terrestial channels. Just into my 7 day cancellation period so I need to know before it runs out.

Thanks in advance ... Elux

Yes the majority of cable STBs do have an RF in. They certainly have an RF out that would transmit the cable output as well as via SCART out sockets.

Even if there is no RF in, you could just get a "Y" splitter, put that on your connection into the VCR so one in on the Y comes from the STB, the other in comes from the terrestrial aerial and the out from the Y goes into the VCR RF in.

The only STB from Telewest which hasnt got an RF in is the new Scientific Atlanta 4200DVB, it does have an RF out and seems to be the best Telewest STB for its channel changing time. Just ask the engineer when he comes not to install this one.

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply, if that is the case then I will go ahead with the install, my life wouldnt have been worth living if the wife couldnt get cable channels upstairs.

Thanks again ... Elux
