Changes RF Channel on SA Explorer 4200DVB STB?

Hi all,

I have recently had Telewest installed and although everything else appears to be ok, i'm getting interferance throught ITV1 on the TV. Someone suggested changing the RF channel of the STB, but can't find this anywhere for this make and model of STB.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

I think you can probably get to engineer mode the same way as the other STBs - by holding the up and down buttons at power-up until you see the engr mode screen. UHF remodulator channel should be in there somewhere. don't mess with any other settings.

No, up and down on the front of the STB. It's a bit fiddly, but you hold them pressed in while re-powering the box.

With the SA box you can bring up the diagnostics without powering down then back up. I can't remember exactly but (as its been over a year since I last had to do this). There are five buttons left/right up/down with ok in the middle. press the left & right at the same time then the up & down at the same time if this doesn't work try the other way round then the ok button. The diagnostics on this boxes used to be incredibly slow to use so be patient when pressing the buttons to change the page or scroll nce diagnostics are up. Hope this helps

Tried:
1 - up and down, release, left and right, release then ok NOTHING
2 - left and right, release, up and down, release, then ok NOTHING
3 - left, right, up, down and ok all at once, NOTHING
all with the cable box powered up!

Anything else?

Cheers

Re: Changes RF Channel on SA Explorer 4200DVB STB?

As per previous posts it seems the way to bring up the sa diagnostics is:

Power off box....hold up and down arrows in at same time the switch on still holding both buttons untill screen comes up, if this doesn't work call TW

Talking Re: Changes RF Channel on SA Explorer 4200DVB STB?

unplug the box hold up button then plug in wait till display says diag and then search through the tech pages for uhf channel. (DO NOT ALTER ANY OUTHER SETTINGS ) also make shure your viewing the box via scart lead when in the tech menus. good luck

---------- Post added at 01:06 ---------- Previous post was at 01:02 ----------

quick note the 4200DVB STB requires up button to be pressed when powering up. the older di1000t requires up and down buttons to be pressed when powering up

Re: Changes RF Channel on SA Explorer 4200DVB STB?

Thanks for that little piece of information, paulpaddison. I have the 4200DVB and it was set to RF channel 54, which clashes with Channel 4 in this area. I rang Telewest, got transferred around several times, and after 30 minutes being on the phone was told that they could not tell me how to change the RF frequency on the STB. However, they could send out a technician to do it, which would cost me £75.

I tried just the up arrow, but when that didn't work tried the up and down arrows, which got me into the diag screen. Changed the RF frequency, and everything is now ok. So that would have been £75 for 30 seconds work. Well done, Telewest. That's what I call customer care.
