Re: help please

You can get calls from anonymous/ withheld numbers blocked, but i am not sure:

a) whether it is available in your area or
b) how much it costs

Unfortunately a lot of those get through ACR as they don't withold their numbers very often. Think the numbers to turn ACR on can vary from area to area though. Think most of the combinations are posted here somewhere by Marge etc.

Just to save dragging through those threads, from various people who posted on them:

*227# to activate
#227# to deactivate
*#227# to check if operational

1478 = enable ACR
1479 = disable ACR

*65 Turn on
#65 Turn off

and you can always make sure you register here TPS to help curb some of the cold calls. ACR only works on "Number was witheld" situations and not "number is not available" which is what happens with a lot of off-shore dialling scams.

As far as I know if they are calling from off-shore then TPS won't be able to do anything. If the company doesn't withold it's number and you can 1471 it then I would suggest using a search engine for more information on the company and then report it to your local trading standards if necessary or you can try here

Unfortunately it didn't recognise the number I got from 1471: - 03094200582 and as you can see it's not an international number.

Thanks anyway

Re: help please

If you block calls that with hold numbers you may not be able to receive call form you place of work and family/friends if they go via a switch box?

when we get calls we don't speak and if we get no response we hang up, people who know us are told speak first.
