NTL Analoge
Hey,
I'm just stayin with relitives and one of the kids messed about with the tv connection. It's on NTL Analoge and I tried to sort it, but not havin any success. I would rather see on this forum how to sort it , rather than having to phone them
Here's a pic of what the back of it looks like: http://i16.ebayimg.com/01/i/04/3b/0f/9d_1_b.JPG I got the connection comming in from ntl wid one wire comming in from the ntl source.
(From left to right) The box has an 'output' 'tv/vcr' 'Ant' and the power supply.
Can someone please tell me how to get the correction connection sorted plz

Re: NTL Analoge
The small box on the back of the main NTL thing allows for a terrestrial aerial passthrough. I'm not sure but the red wire wil power the small box. If you don't have or use the terrestrial aerial then you can simply pull off the passtrhough box. Under that will be a nice connector point onto whcih you can plug the co-axial that connects to your TV (or VCR). Ther screw in thread on the left side of the rear is for the ntl cable that comes from the box on the side of your house.
If the kids have mesed aroudn, any idea what they have changed. It's might be the TV channel tuner that simply needs to be readjusted to a changed frequency?

Re: NTL Analoge
The kids took out the wires from their sockets. Thats all
But the last time I came in contact with Ntl Analoge was many years ago, so I don't know how to work it. I don't want to break nothing.

I've had a look on my analogue box & can't find an easy way to change the channel frequency from the standard menu - there is no telling how 'creative' kids can be, though.
Connectors to the stb are 'F type', i.e. screw in, there should be one from the wall plate to the rear of the STB, where it is labelled 'input' & one from the TV/VCR outlet on the aerial combiner to the TV or VCR. As MGP says, the 'ant' socket can be used to combine the signal from a terrestrial aerial with the cable signal.
<edit> look here

for a piccy
If these connections are ok, maybe the TV needs to be tuned into the signal, again????

Re: NTL Analoge
The cable with the F-Type connector,(one with screw thread that comes from isolator on wall) goes into the cable in of the STB, the one that has TV/VCR can either go straight into TV or goes into input of VCR then there should be another cable from VCR to TV. The Ant is for outside ariel if you have one. This enables you to tune TV to 1-5 coming off outside ariel.

Re: NTL Analoge
Ring customer services, they won't bite you (as long as it is a genuine NTL supplied box still being paid for).
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=28799 and the image in your opening post on this thread seem to suggest you may have bought the box off Ebay and can't get it to work.

Re: NTL Analoge
To be honest with you i don't think NTL are bothered about dodgy analogue boxes. When i collected cable boxes for them , analogues were a strict no-go area. We didnt get paid to collect them and if a customer tried to give us one ( an analogue box!) we were told to refuse. They all ended up in a skip.

Re: NTL Analoge
They haven't got the staff to monitor it. either that or they turn a blind eye 'allegedly' if the price is right. I had numerous people approach me to supply boxes. i explained that disconnects are done in the cabinets etc but the common reply was that they had a contact 'inside', possibly a contractor. I've still got my contractor I.D, cabinet keys etc, could cause merry hell if I could be bothered!
