The 5p Talk Plan

So if we all upgrade from the 3-2-1 package to the 5p talk plan do we then get the talk plan mobile phone rates as well ?

looking at THIS it looks like calls to orange will be 12.24p in the day time compared to 23.99p on the 3-2-1 package or am i wrong ?

Re: The 5p Talk Plan

Sorry but the mobile call plan is £2 extra per month, some call plans have reduced calls to mobiles (about 1p per minute cheaper)

To be honest even before the changes you were mad, unless you never made any landline calls.

Re: The 5p Talk Plan

I'd never even heard of the 5p plan until I just read the thread about the new tariffs. I had been considering the unlimited national plan as I have a son we phone in Wales, but I think the 5p tariff will be even better value as the bulk of the calls are local calls with the kids phoning their mates.

Just phoned up, first time I've phoned customer services in a while. Got through pretty quick, and spoke to a very nice girl called Amy (Scottish accent, so I guess it was Glasgow call centre). She's swapped us over to the 5p tariff, should be active in 24hrs.

If that's a typical call it should be much improved over past experience of being on hold for ages.

Re: The 5p Talk Plan

What exactly is a local call?

Would I have to call a number within the same Area Code as me for it to be considered local, or is this a geographical thing?

Re: The 5p Talk Plan

The downside of the 5p tariff, from what I can see on the new pricelist, is that you pay 5p for local calls at weekend, rather than 0p on the new 3-2-1 tariff.

I can see the small print myself that confirms the mobile discounts apply to the 5p Talk Plan, only that the mobile tariff is applicable to Talk Plans in general.

But how many weekend calls do you make per week? Multiply that by 5p per call and you will see that this cost will probably be far less than having to pay 2p per minute plus a 5p connection charge per call for midweek evening and night calls on the 3-2-1 tarrif.

When you compare the 5p talk plan to the talk unlimited plan which is £8 per month dearer you have to make over 160 evening and weekend calls per month for the talk unlimited plan to be cheaper. The 5p plan is probably the best option out for most customers, especially when the mobile call plan is included.

OK I was not saying the 5p call plan was not a good option, just pointing out that it was not a win, win option - there is a cost you have to consider, especially if you make a lot of calls at the weekend locally.

With regards to the mobile plan, I goofed in my previous email. It should have said I *cannot* see the small print saying the mobile discounts came with the 5p plan, only a general statement. Has anyone got written proof you get it with the 5p plan.

Re: The 5p Talk Plan

Locally and nationally are not differentiated between, only geographic and non-geographic numbers.
