Unhappy ntl TV system

Hi,

Does anyone know if ntl plan to upgrade the Favourites system? I am in the Portsmouth area and find it pathetic.

There should be the ability to group like channels in folders (e.g. music, travel and news.) and also when moving channels, it should not be necessary to have to step down the whole channel listing manually.

It feels as though a school kid wrote this system. I can't believe that ntl directors, who must use it at home, do not get similarly frustrated and get something done about it.

Re: ntl TV system

Eh?

Try comparing it to Sky favourites system. With that you are stuck with the channels where Sky want them and can't group them about.

I think the Ntl favourites option is one of the better things about the Ntl EPG.

You really think that NTL's directors even live in places that can get NTL?

You can but are limited to 20 (I think) so I've taken to putting the favourites at the start of each section.

Re: ntl TV system

I would have thought 20 favourites would be enough for most people.

I don't bother too much with favourites, I know roughly where channels are on the odd occasion I decide to wander through the EPG. There are two main requirements for watching TV in my eyes, a good way to find what to watch and a good platform to watch it on.

The ideal platform for watching TV at this time is Sky+ with the ability to easily record programmes in broadcast quality for watching when you want to watch them. It is so easy to set a programme to record and if it is a series you can automatically select all future episodes. The sooner NTL have something to compete with this the better it will be for customers who choose NTL for DTV.

Deciding what to watch is a breeze with digiGuide (link in my sig). It is far better than any listings mag or EPG and has brilliant search functions and colour coded favourites markings. Check it out for free.

The ideal solution would be to have DigiGuide linked via the internet to your STB so that you can sit at your computer with a cuppa and decide on your viewing for the next week, press enter and it would be all set up. Come up with that NTL and a decent PVR system which maintains picture quality far better than the NTL service that I dropped and I could be tempted to drop Sky and return.

Certainly, I know one who is very proactive about reporting back his experiences to the team. Makes 'em jump.

I'd have thought that with more than one person in a property, there'd be more than 10 favourite channels.

Was there not something from a few years back when a highup type made sure a whole building was wired up so he could get service?

I like to play devil's advocate, and try to get people to see the other side of things. And i'm an argumentative *****.

I'd like to think i help as much as i hinder, though. I try to keep it even.
