Bt sms caller
We keep getting calls from that stupid BT sms service, when you pick the phone up it sounds a bugle down the phone.
Its getting really irritating, it seems to call at inconvenient times, like 12 at night or 3 in the morning.

Re: Bt sms caller
You can prevent SMS voice texts from being sent to your fixed line phone by contacting the BT automated service on 0800 587 5252.

I don't know what an sms phone is, but I can send text messages to my phone on an NTL line and have it read out via a computer generated voice.
WTF is a SMS phone ????

Re: Bt sms caller
I have just tested the SMS to phone service using my mobile to call my NTL line, the NTL line rang but after the "bugle" and the test message the voice said it was from BT is this a fault ?

Re: Bt sms caller
My grandaughter is on holiday and sent us a text message to our NTL landline. She started and ended the message with a long line of X's (kisses). When we answered the call it just sounded like someone saying sex, sex, sex over and over. We were just about to hang up when it changed to "hi grandma and grandpa".

Same happened with the call I just mentioned. Orange mobile to NTL landline, where and how does BT come in?

Re: Bt sms caller
I was wondering how BT came into it, which is why I kept hanging up, I thought it was one of those things that charged you premium rate.

Re: Bt sms caller
The BT bit has been mentioned in another thread somewhere, I'll see if I can find it, it might shed some light on the matter
EDIT :- found it here but not much use

i think its becuase the voice to Sms service is owned by BT but it seems quite happy to deliver messages to NTL customers
besides it probably means money for BT as i would guess as the text comes from their sms center they get some of the money off the operator of the person who sent the sms. (that is purely a guess though)
