Re: samsung picture problems

Why would they give you a pace instead of a new samsung when they are trying to phase out the Pace units? Is this the only samsung you have had and how do you connect the STB to your PC??

It is the only samsung i have had,had to get it for 1.5 mbit, got it early to avoid the rush for when 3 mbit came out.I would rather have a seperate box for tv and broadband really. But if the samsungs picture was ok i would be happy.I use an ethernet cable,i am interested if when using a SACM,whether they split the main feed into 2?

Re: samsung picture problems

what area are you from? there has been a fix rolled out in some areas. Is the problem just on some channels? a number of people report changing to another channel (Flaunt usually works).

They won't replace the STB with a SACM unless they have to as it means them supplying two pieces of equipment instead of one. Have you tried contacting NTL CS?
Are you connecting the TV and STB by SCART?

Re: samsung picture problems

Sounds like settings to me...

Go into Settings and then the Visual settings (forget the actual wording)
You can change the settings between 4:3, 16:9 letterbox and 16:9
Set this according to your TV set.
If you've got a normal square TV, choose 4:3 (remember that a lot of channels transmit in 16:9 these days, so 16:9 letterbox may be a better option - try both).
If you have a widescreen TV, set it to 16:9 (NOT 16:9 letterbox).

If you've already tried this, I apologise... but as you havent mentioned this, it could be worth a try.

Forgot about the duff settings button

You can get to the settings exactly as Feenix said... should've remembered this when I posted (thanks for pointing out my error by the way!)

Just to be clear, the fix is being rolled out in the Langley areas only. Bromley areas, such as Brighton, have never had the infamous picture-shift bug.

Whatever problem you are seeing, it isn't this bug. (But, as others have said, it could be incorrect settings).

Let us know how you get on.
