Exclamation Stockton area BB & TV blackout!

We've just had a big thunderstorm here (actually I was at the fringe of it but it was still pretty impressive) and it seems that it is responsible for taking out the Cable TV and Broadband completely around here. TV is black and BB modem receive light is blinking way unhappily. Phone is OK though (on dial up now).
I'm in the TS17 postcode area and others in my area are have got the same fault.

Has anyone "in the know" got any info as to what has happened and when services might be resumed (the fault is not even mentioned on the status page).

Roll call. Anyone in nearby surrounding postcodes got the same problems?

It's sort of funny really because it's always usually terrestrial broadcast TV that suffers badly from the thunderstorms and us cable users usually get to gloat a lot during those times.

Anyway I've spent about 25p on this dial-up so far so I'm off to do something else that does not cost me any money.

Later

Headends confirmed as OK. So it must be a localised issue.

Yes I rang but they are shut till the morning (as I expected them to be) but sometimes you get a recorded anouncement saying that they know that there is a fault and they are working on it. The recorded message only said what the hours of business are and gave an alternative number for emergency telephone faults only.

Re: Stockton area BB & TV blackout!

I'm also in the TS17 postcode area, But I was at the levellers gig in Boro last night, Thought I saw some lightning when we left though.
At midnight the BB was fine didnt seem to have had any adverse effect.

PS I live near the Lord westbury pub so any problems may have been localised more than just "stockton".

Re: Stockton area BB & TV blackout!

It was still out at 7:00am but was all back on line by the time I dragged myself out of bed at around 9:30am.
Seems rather odd considering that I got very little of the storm fringe which seemed to be all happening much further west yet I (and a few friends/relatives in the immediate vicinity) had lost all our cable TV/BB services.

Although with the levellers gig we didnt hear or see the thunder and lightning, some point around 10:15pm the PA flicked off and then about a minute later the Lights went. Only for about 30-40 seconds mind. And the band played on so they say (the PA came back before the Lights). I'd imagine that would eb caused by the storm so Its not inconceivable that the BB might have been affected.

Funnily enough I`ve just switched the TV on and there does seem to be a problem. some of the terrestrial channels are working ok as is BBC news24 and BBC3/4, but non of the other cable chennels. It was ok at lunchtime.
