High pitched scratch noise

Why is it that when I watch NTL channels, my reciever makes a High pitched scratch noise?
also, why does the picture and the sound sometimes come through at different times, like a bad old kung fu movie?
and why does my picture sometimes drop for about a second for roughly 10 times during an interesting programme?

I hope someone can answer my questions.

I have NTL digital

Re: High pitched scratch noise

It shouldn't.

Does this happen on all channels or just on a specific couple?

The only time my picture drops is during the nightly updates, roughly 2-3 times between 10:30 and 12:00.

Re: High pitched scratch noise

I have had this problem before but NTL never said what was wrong. I have had my reciever replaced in the last couple of months.

This happens mainly on the discovery/nat geo and such likes, but can happen on the movies as well. movies tend to lose picture for about 2 secs or freeze for a couple of secs.

but the scratchy noise thing comes and goes, I may not get it for a few weeks now, I have not had it in about a week so far.

Maybe nothing can be done, just the cables or something.

Its most likely to be a levels issue. Either too high or too low. Either way its a call to CS and keep complaining. I would record the issue onto your video so you have evidence to show any visiting tech.
