Freeview HD launched in London.
The Freeview HD mux launched in london on 3 Dec from Crystal Palace (ch31) joining lancashire's Winter Hill service. Crystal Palace's service is an additional mux, retaining the existing configuration of channels on the existing muxes until switchover. The HD mux is also at a lower power (10kW) to avoid reception problems with Sandy Heath.
Now all we need is the kit to recieve it on !!!

I would have thought any DVB-T2 compliant box would pick it up, or are they using some obscure parameters?

At those prices I'm considering moving to Freesat. £250 gets you a Humax freesat PVR.
Freesat has considerably more bandwidth. BBC Red button content on Freeview is currently only one channel, where Freesat has six (I believe). With the winter olympics currently on, it is obvious that one red button channel is not enough. Freesat is currently using 5 channels to show all events.

Er, there isn't one. And TBH the Humax boxes are so far ahead of the competition you'd be a bit silly not to get one.

I checked with Google Shopping first and all the suggestions it came up with were more expensive. I simply put down the cheapest I could find.

We get our Freeview from the Winter Hill transmitter.
It's annoying that a HD ready TV with built in Freeview cannot receive Freeview HD without an STB, i guessit won't be long before TV's are available with it built in.

Is it any surprise that this is a complete farce?
Really, did nobody in regulations or authority have the wit to see the march toward HD?
It's Eureka-147 DAB all over again!
Rolling out an SDTV digital system which isn't complete before it needs upgrading again to HD.
Rolling out a digital radio system based on an obsolete and inferior codec.
Digital switchover forced the pace of a sytem that was only half finished, and built on the remains of the business failure of OnDigital/ITV digital, leaving the remains of the "setpal" chipset boxes scattered along the wayside.

Probably to justify huge investment being made in re-engineering the entire terrestrial network. Just think all that taxpayers money spent by the BBC etc and they've got nobody using it because it's got no HD.
And there's not just the HD mux to think about. While the two remaining PSB mux must continue to broadcast in the existing format under OFCOM rules, there are no such constraints on the remaining commercial mux operators, who may well also opt to use DVB-T2.
