Worked fine on our 3 TVs in Leeds, all with built in Freeview (but we had a V+ and a STB for backup).

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!
Lol big fuss over nothing. "Woow...22,000 household affected???!!!" That's only 1% of the households that have freeview, did you know ?
So no, it's not the big a cock up. But we need these cockups to advance in the technological front. I for one would be happy knowing that I need to update my freeview box. What is it? Another 20 quid or so? It's not much. It's one off, it's small and if your box didnt respond well to the retune...it's needed!

Did you add channels or a full re-tune? Duplicate channels after a full re-tune in my experience has meant you can see two transmitters.

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!
Its likely a lot of the problems with IDTV's have been due to missed over-air-downloads in preparation for the split NIT now in use.
I feel sorry for the people in Freeview Lite areas that have lost ITV 3 & 4 to gain CH 5 and ANOTHER +1 channel (ITV2+1). Why not let them keep ITV 3 & 4 and boot CH4+1 onto Mux D instead.

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!
I have 2 DTVs both of which updated smoothly but I have delayed doing my Recorder as I can't remember how to use it and will have to experiment if I can't find the manual. I know I put it some where safe.

If you can't find it you can look HERE. Theres also another big site with loads of manuals on, but I can't remember it right now.

22,000 houses is a lot. Now, to put that in context, Freeview serves over 10,000,000m and possibly nearly 20,000,000. Suddenly 22,000 doesn't seem like much of an issue, does it?

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!
I presume the reported problems are that some older boxes and DTVs are unable to be retuned and some boxes (such as my own Philips DTR1500) are difficult to retune.
Incidentally, if anyone has the same problem I did (rescanning the channels didn't pick up the new 5 location), you need to do a factory reset.
The procedure for this is not too fiddly. - unplug the box from the mains
- While holding the + button on the front of the box, turn the box on. The red LED will light. After a few seconds, the Multicolour LED will turn orange/yellow. Eventually it will flash. Hold the + button until it flashes.
- Press the + button again and the Multicolour LED will start to flash red.
- When the LED flashes red, enter the code 9900 on the remote. If the code is accepted, the multicolour LED will flash green a few times. If it doesn't, re-enter the code.
- Wait, and in a few minutes, the box will reboot itself and start the installation wizard.

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!
I recently plugged in the old digibox we had into the aerial and scanned it. Most of the channels were in the 800 bracket, which has prompted me to get an updated model!
