Strange timing issue...

I often have a recording rejected because of a timing clash when there is no real problem. It looks as though the V+ box is adding time on the the recording at random. e.g. I record a program at 7pm --> 7:30 and another 7:30 --> 8:00. If I try to record another from 7:00--> 7:30 it says I am already recording 2 programs. When I look at the result the first program has recorded for 37 mins?? Has anyone seen this before??

Yup because the system recognise that your first option of recordings are 7pm-7.30pm and then 7.30Pm -8.pm it considers these to be your first and second choice and will allocate these preferences over any other recordings.

It means that because your second option (7.30-8.pm) is likely to start at 7.29 it calculates that there is no room for the three recordings. Depending on how you have set these recording, i.e. series link, it will usually allocate a preference for series against on-off recording – or at least it does on my box.

Because some channels are frequently running behind schedule (BBC & ITV) whilst others are early (Channel Five). I suggest that you go into your V+ box settings and adjust the system to remove the two minutes start and five after the end of your recordings, which is where you are getting the 37 minutes recordings for 30 minute programs. WARNING suggest you leave this options to avoid the ends cutting off, not that this will help much with a football game going to penalties up to 40 minutes late.

However, its not advisable at this time of the year with sporting events as the schedules are always screwed following live events. If you anticipate a clash best to cancel the recording on BBC or C4 and catch that later on Catch Up or iPlayer at your leisure, up to one week later.
