General dip in visual quality?

Now this just maybe my eyes, but has anyone else noticed a slight dip in quality across the whole platform recently?

I watched TopGear last night on BBC2, and was shocked to see how pixelated and blocky it was in places. Even BBC:HD hasn't looked quite as shiny lately. I'm outputting 720p from the V+ direct to the TV via HDMI (so no hop via an AV amp). And I've had this TV for 6months now, so it's not just the initial shock of a LCD vs CRT.

It's liked they've increased the compression very slightly across all channels.

Anyone else noticing this? Just thought I'd inquire...
Cheers Rich.

Well I don't know where you are in the UK but I've been having similar problems late last night..I'm hoping it's sorted today.Did you check the VM status page to see if it was flagged at all?You can access it through the status link at the bottom of the forum pages here at CF.

I'm in SE London. No loss in PQ we've noticed here (on a 32" Toshiba Regza, 720p via HDMI). In fact, I thought Doctor Who and Film4 actually looked even better this weekend.

Re: General dip in visual quality?

No problems here in Liverpool, possibly a localized issue and may require a call to TV faults on 151

I didn't check the Status page, but if you're nearer to Portsmouth than Southampton then we're probably on the same system.

I'll see what it's like tonight.
Cheers Rich.

Re: General dip in visual quality?

Well I'm getting intermittent pixilation and then complete blackout on half my TV channels.

It makes watching tv impossible.

It's been flagged as a local problem in the Portsmouth/Southampton region.

Oh really, very interesting? Thanks for the update. I'll keep an eye on the Service Status page, see if they post anything.

Re: General dip in visual quality?

Well BBC:HD was more shiny last night. The tennis looked very clear and sharp. BBC3 didn't look as bad either.

Perhaps the issue has been resolved. How's your reception today Incognitas?
