Please Help!! HDMI connection not working!!

Hi everyone,

have read through a few of these posts trying to find the answer..but can't seem to find it.

Got a V+ box approx 5 months ago. Bought a new tele to go with it in order to view HD. (Dual 26"). Everything was fine until two weeks ago when the connection lost and was getting the blue screen 'not signal received'. Had to reboot to get it back and after ten mins the same thing happened again. Same for the next day. Called an engineer out who replaced the box (with a reconditioned one I think) but after he left, the same thing happened again.

Further engineer came out and said it was one of those things and would have to watch through scart. Am not happy. The picture is as crap as a crap thing.

Engineer comes out, says he has installed a new box but the same thing happened again and then wouldn't work through the scart lead when he tried.

Said it must be a fault with my new 4 month tele and left saying he would bring a new box out, but the only thing he could do was connect the scart back again.

Surely this isn't right?

I have just reconnected the scart lead to see if it would work, it does reconnect but then can't get any of the menus from virgin remote and have to manually change the channel, but something is not right as it leaves 'trails' and shapes on my screen.

Any help? Please?
Rachel

Re: Please Help!! HDMI connection not working!!

Without having another HDMI TV to check against it's going to be difficult to confirm if it is the STB, or the TV. If the STB has been replaced, and you are also not getting a picture via the Scart (HDMI needs to be disabled onthe STB's settings for that), one must suspect the TV.

Do you have a DVD and does that work OK, connected to the same scart / HDMI leads and sockets in place of the STB?

Are all the leads firmly pushed home in the sockets on both TV and STB?

Re: Please Help!! HDMI connection not working!!

We had problems trying to connect the HDMI and in getting it all working. We resolved it by contacting our TV supplier (John Lewis in our case) and although it cost us about 40 quid, it was worth it because what he did I could never have done! On my own, I was able to get the TV and box working together, but HD was just out of the question. He got it all working for us within about 20 minutes.

I'm afraid you are going to have to pay to get someone in unless you know someone in the business or you have a geeky friend.

Re: Please Help!! HDMI connection not working!!

thanks both of you for your advice.

Had reconnected it to the scart and that is working, so me thinks will have to call someone.

I haven't got much faith in the engineers that came out and I had to (with my limited knowledge) tell them the scart was in the wrong hole!!!

I so regret moving to VM I have had to call them out on an almost monthly basis (even before getting V+).

Am seriously thinking of going back to Sky.......

but many thanks for your help.
