V+ to DVD, sound but no picture

Having some problems recording from my V+ box to my DVD recorder. I get sound but just a black screen. This is my current set up:

V+ to TV with HDMI cable (its also connected with a scart, which isnt being used, just to lazy to dig behind my TV to pluck it out)
DVD recorder to TV with scart cable (AV1)
V+ VCR/DVD scart socket to DVD recorder AV2.

At first i thought it might be the scart cable, so i used a different one and i still get the same problem. Am i missing something? or do i have it hooked up wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Firstly welcome

Is your scart cable on the v+connected to the bottom socket?

Thanks.

Yeah, the bottom scart on the V+ is connected to my DVD recorder. The top scart on the V+ is connected to the TV but isnt in use as i use the HDMI connection to watch TV.
