Test your HD

Here's a test for your equipment

Must've been 10-15 years ago when i was watching Jaws on VHS
Richard Dreyfuss is in the shark cage - in his hand he holds a shark stick ladened with poison - on the end of the stick is a cork tip - here's the test - he pulls off the cork tip ready for the shark - as he does so I could clearly see a liquid leak out of the tip & into the ocean

never seen it since despite HD TV, DVD and V+ enhancements

Jaws is my all time favourite film and i must watched it over 50 times now (almost once a month) - never seen Jaws in HD though

Re: Test your HD

I can picture the scene in my mind Jethro, but cant say Ive noticed the leak from the spear gun, mind you the best picture quality I ever saw Jaws in was at the cinema when it was first released, sometime in the 70s, so I am going back a bit. Ive seen it countless times on the TV and I used to have it on VHS, but as you say you'd need a good HD set. Excellent film though, especially Robert Shaw as Quint, the bit where they are drinking and comparing scars always makes me laugh, especially when Chief Brody looks at his appendix scar, just a shame all the sequels were rubbish, maybe 2 was okish, but 3 and 4 dread-full.

Sadly there is no Jaws blu-ray yet. I'd buy it in a heart beat if it was ever released though. Jaws is a fantastic movie.

Re: Test your HD

I find it quite perfunctory. Cliched even. But perhaps that's because it defined an oft-copied sub-genre. Maybe I should watch it again. I will when the BluRay appears. I'll give it a proper chance.

Actually I remember the first time I saw it. I was about 14. Sat on the sofa eating a bowl of rice crispies (!). When the head appeared through the hole at the bottom of the boat I jumped and ended up covered in rice crispies and milk! Heh heh.

Re: Test your HD

well strangely enough i wasn't sure how to describe that part - because it was a clear (not coloured) liquid but you could see it - just as you can see heat rising from the road

actually I thought Brody did have a shark scar on there too which was why he was afraid of the water as he had been attacked when he was younger
