V+ - HDMI - NO Sound!!

Last night I switched my V+ from using SCART to HDMI.

Bought a splitter and connected the PS3 and the V+ box to it via HDMI cables and then, via a third cable, from the splitter to the TV.

For a couple of hours - fantastic!!

After that though the V+ box rebooted itself??!! and now I have a crystal clear picture but NO SOUND.

I have unplugged everything, switched things on and off, rebooted the V+ etc but no joy.

I have a goodmans 32" LCD HDTV with one HDMI port. There are no menu options to turn it on/off etc. I have also been through the V+ settings but to no avail?

Not phoned them up yet but might have to later depending if I get any response on here.

Welcome to the forum.

Does the HDMI cable go directly to the TV?

Do you also use the TV for sound? Or are there other cables and components in your system?

Cheers for the welcome.

I use the TV for sound. I have no amp or surround system connected.

The HDMI cable runs to the TV thorugh the splitter which looks after my PS3 and the V+ box.

I have also been informed today that there were service issues in my area last night and this morning so the problem may be cured with a reboot when i get home from work.

Can I add a quick extra check for you to make if the sound is still missing. Connect your TV and V+ directly by taking your PS3 and the splitter out of the equation temporarily just in case one of them is the cause of your problems.

I DID manage to get this sorted in the end :-)

It turned out to be a Virgin Media Service issue and - touch wood - it has been OK ever since.

Check in your settings that the HDMI audio overide is not active. When this is on sound is only active through digital output on some channels
