Question V+ with a modulator doesn't work

Hi,
I,ve just got the V+ box on the one off £25.00 deal and I watch via the HDMI cable on an LCD TV. At the same time, the VCR scart works fine when I plug it direct to a scart enabled portable , but if I plug it into a modulator to take it round the house it doesn't work. Although it can be tuned in on RF , the picture is corrupted and unwatchable. If I use the modulator to send the scart signal from a Daewoo freeview box round the house ( same cables etc ) it works fine, so what is different about the signal on the V+ VCR scart that stops it working.
Any advice appreciated.
regards Mick

Re: V+ with a modulator doesn't work

When you have HDMI enabled the scart and RF outputs are disabled, except for archive of your recordings to a DVD/VCR. That makes sense since the V+ is upscaling stuff to a HD type picture if you are using HDMI, and clearly the SD resolution of scart and RF outputs cant deal with such higher quality output.

Re: V+ with a modulator doesn't work

Following the latest code drop ,If I watch via HDMI to an lcd TV, and at the same time take a scart lead from the V+ VCR scart , direct to a scart enabled portable, the same picture will show on both TV's, albeit SD on the portable but still a good picture. So why does it corrupt when I plug it into a modulator and distribute via R.F.?

Re: V+ with a modulator doesn't work

I simply figured that whilst they re-enabled the SCART while using HDMI, that they didn't bother to re-enable the RF too.

Re: V+ with a modulator doesn't work

I'm not using the V+RF output , I'm taking the VCR scart to a seperate RF modulator which should convert it to rf for tuning on other TVs, but the picture gets corrupted.

It's a good question - and one which deserves an appropriate answer.

Since you know that the SCART is carrying a good signal (you can watch it directly), the problem must be with the modulator you use. Or is there some copy protection which prevents it being modulated. I am sorry - I don't know the definitive answer. SOmeone here must!

Re: V+ with a modulator doesn't work

I'm pretty sure it will be macrovision copy protection. I think you need a signal conditioner on the output scart prior to the modulator. Does it happen on all channels? BBC1 shouldnt have any protection.

Bought a different modulator (proception) and it works fine so there's a problem with the mercury modulators and the V+ VCR output.
